Great location. Great hotel with long history.

I will definitely stay here again. Gorgeous view of the mountains and golf course along the river. Friendly staff members. Great food. Couldn't get a room at the Fairmont Lake Louise but this hotel was a great alternative.

My nightmare at this hotel

When we arrived on 8/8/14, my 2 queen bedroom resevation was changed to 1 king bedroom so my 21 old son had to sleep on the bunk bed. Baically we were paying $500/night for refugee camp. The hotel staff were very unresponsive to our request. We had to check out day early to escape the ordeal.

Banff Springs Fairmont

A gorgeous historic building in a gorgeous location.  Service is wonderful.  Views are breath-taking.  However, rooms are quite small and not as large as they look on their website.  Expect a very small room for a very large price.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

We will never stay at a Fairmont again. It is highly over rated in quality and service. The rooms are tiny and it takes forever for the hot water to run in the shower, the room service was poor (for our romantic breakfast in bed, they only brought up breakfast for 1 instead of the 2 that we ordered), the restaurants all closed by 930 so we couldn't even eat in one of the restaurants by the time we got back from site seeing, and the hotels in Mexico we stayed at were a lot cleaner. The only thing that was fantastic about this hotel was the Valet staff!

Cost too much, but a unique place to stay

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, historic grounds and building
Cons: cost, parking, mediocre services
We had a number of issues with this place. A couple of staff competency items arose that you would not expect. A house keeping issue while minor, was not in line with a "class" place like Banff Springs. Paid 25 bucks to self park our car and the lot was one that also was a public pay lot too. I expected a secured lot on the hotel grounds....the 25 bucks was a per day charge. Overall, for the money, we expected a high degree of service and some nice ammendities. Oh, a bad food experience in one of the restaurants. too. Wrote an email to hotel mgmt with all our concerns. We would not and will not sta;y there again.

Castle like

Cons: Nothing close, Poor breakfast
This hotel is nice but in no way an excellent hotel. The public spaces is what makes this hotel so great apart from the scenery. The rooms, though recently renovated (so said the brochure), leave a lot to be desired from. Rooms are small and the furniture old (not the style just plain beaten up furniture). Overall though the room was not to my liking the hotel was. The restaurants in the hotel are excellent, the staff is friendly.

This hotel was historic and beautiful.

Pros: Quiet
I enjoyed the tour of this historic hotel offered free for guests and conducted by an employee who had worked there for decades. The outdoor pool was warm but a bit crowded. The town's restaurant's were a bit of a walk from the hotel, but taxis were easy to access. The view from my room on one of the upper floors was spectacular.
