We loved the Otter hotel. Very new, comfortable facilities. Beautiful hot tubs looking out over the mountains. Quick walk into town and to hikes. Great restaurant we had brunch at. Onsite parking. Excellent stay, will return.

The Otter is a bit outside of downtown Banff, but there is a shuttle that stops directly across the street and the drive is an easy one. Parking in the garage under the hotel is great. The public areas of the hotel are handsome. Our room large and nice looking, but we felt that it fell short on practicalities. Bedside and bathroom lighting were not great and the huge bathroom was short on horizontal surfaces for cosmetics, etc. The bed was very firm and the pillows provided were the thickest and hardest of any hotel that I have stayed in, making for an uncomfortable sleep for our older bodies. We had two breakfasts and two dinners at the lobby restaurant and all meals were very good. We enjoyed our stay overall, but thought the hotel unfortunately missed on a few details.

Lovely hotel stay at The Otter

Amazing stay- very clean room. Friendly staff. Roam bus stop directly across the street from hotel. Staff gives you tickets at check in. You will use them!! Location is away from downtown Banff but I knew this when booking. Most restaurants and shopping can be quite a walk from hotel. Roam bus service is great. Loved the coffee from sister hotel- Sudden Sally. The only complaint that I might have is the lack of storage space in room & bathroom. No shelves to put toiletry items on. Wonderful rain shower. I would book it again.

Too much work

I thought the hotel was clean and aesthetically pleasing. I had issues with the lack of thought to the traveler. There was only one place for a suitcase and no available luggage stands. So one of us lived out of the suitcase on the floor. There was only one small drawer if we wanted to unpack. The small bed side table, one shelf, no drawers. No dresser drawers, or dresser surface. No clock!! The bathroom also, not well thought out for travelers. It was overall large in space but not in conveniences. Sink with no shelves underneath, just the stand alone sink. . No place for toiletries etc. No towels even at the sink, they are across the room by the shower. The coffee, i was willing to try something new, and it was good coffee. But i never got the refill on the subsequent days, even though i filled out my order form. I am not usually such a complainer, but we had just spent 3 nights at a different hotel and the room was so conducive to travelers.

Mountain view room was a good view. Restaurant menu not very good. Beds very hard and pillows too thick and very firm. Woke up with stiff neck and and sore back all 3 days we stayed there. No microwave or freezer in the room. For over $700 a night not worth it.
