I stayed here with my kids for 5 days this summer. The water slides were a hit with my 11 and 7 year old's. My 7 year old loved the PlayZone area, I was surprised how big the play structure was. One improvement would be to have some wifi service down there for the parents. Like the other reviews say, the place is dated but it's a great price and the kids loved it. Taking the bus into town was very easy, we took the bus multiple times. Much easier than trying to find a parking spot. I would stay here again.

Avoid this place

I rarely write reviews, but this stay was so terrible I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill fast. The room was absolutely filthy and had a horrible smell . The front desk staff was rude, dismissive and had attitudes. No apology, no solution — just pure unprofessionalism. The worst part? When we requested housekeeping to come clean the room, a staff member actually handed me a vacuum cleaner and said, “Do it yourself.” I thought it was a joke at first. It wasn’t. This hotel clearly has no standards for cleanliness or customer service. Save yourself the frustration and stay literally anywhere else. One star is too generous.

All in all, the suite was clean, complete kitchen equipment, helpful daily housekeeping service, quick and pleasant reception and checkout. Occasional welcomed sight of deer in the area. 15 minute ride from downtown. Very clean and comfy bed. It would have been perfect just please clean the toilet inner edges better.

Very run down overall. Rooms dark and dingy. 1st room we were given had a door that was almost impossible to open it was so swollen, melamine peeling away from work surfaces. 2nd room a little better but felt lovely ke everything needed a good steam clean. Bucket out in hallway for roof leak, stained carpet. Were given 3 days roam passes for our stay

Dated Property in Excellent Location

The location of the property is perfect! You are literally just up the mountain from downtown and the first stop as you come up the mountain for the #2 bus (which the hotel gives you a pass to ride the bus for free). It was a 12-15 minute easy downhill walk for us into downtown Banff and you can take the bus back. It is quiet and beautiful up in this area. We had a balcony porch with views of the mountain with table and chairs and that was a real treat! The room had a comfortable queen bed, a wood burning fireplace (with wood to burn), a full kitchen and a sofa sleeper. We had everything we needed for our stay and the staff were always helpful and accommodating. This is an older property that has been well used so the Formica counters were worn and in need of replacement. The carpet in the room was fine and seemed to be recently replaced, but the carpet in the halls was not in good shape. Everything was functional, but dated, so for us it worked. The pool area under the front lobby was not functional or open, but they have a waterslide area and both an indoor and outdoor hot tub. We enjoyed the hot tub after our long hikes (some jets were working and some not, but there was a good amount of room and jets to enjoy). There is no restaurant or food on the property. It has the things you need in terms of the room, but it doesn't feel like a resort and it is definitely well used. For the price, it was clean and had what we needed. Parking was convenient and easy. Good staff!

On arrival we were greeted by a polite lady who gave us free bus passes and staff were helpful in bringing a travel cot to the room efficiently. All staff dealt with had great communication. This was let down by the cleanliness and disrepair of the property; bug screen hanging off so we could not sit on the balcony due to fear of breaking the bug screen. The window in the top bedroom was unable to open meaning the room was terribly hot so a good night sleep was difficult. This window was being held together with what looked like gaffer tape. On top of the kitchen cupboards it was black with dust, dirt and dead flies, this was visible from the upstairs bedroom. The bathroom had items such as a plaster and bobby pin left on the floor.

The bungalows were nice and clean, kitchenettes were somewhat short on cutlery/glassware to not be constantly washing. Housekeeping came at 9 am but did not return when we had not left yet or offer too so was making trips to desk for coffee/shampoo. Good value but a few detractions from a great experience.

Pleasantly surprised. First thing people will say is that it’s outdated. We were fine with it. It added to the feeling of being in the mountains. Great option for the free bus downtown to Banff. Nice walking and hiking trails near by. Great play area for kids. Pretty awesome we even saw elk and deer from our room.
