Disappointed for such a great area. Reeked of smok

The hotel is very dated and uncomfortable. There was also a clear smell of smoke in the room. We travelled during peak summer season and expected to pay higher prices, but for the high price we paid, we were disappointed by the poor quality of the hotel. We would not stay at the Douglas Fir again in the future unless there was a material upgrade in the ENTIRE hotel.

We have been coming to the Douglas Fir since 2001 when we are in Banff. This year the out dated, worn out and beyond drab appearance shows there is little or no money being used to update this property. We were astonished at the light switches that don’t work, missing light bulbs, cupboards that can’t close, curtains that aren’t hung properly and a balcony that has not been swept in months or the crumbling cement at the entrance. Sadly we will not return nor recommend this property again. It was a family favourite and we are a large family.

Great room in a convenient location

Great room. Lots of space and would be perfect for a longer stay with its kitchenette area. Also a winter stay would be cosy having its own fireplace in the room and sitting area. We were given our complimentary bus pass to use during our stay with the bus stop directly opposite the hotel entrance. We used this but also enjoyed the pleasant stroll down into the town of Banff - around 15-20 mins. Once we’d picked up our car rental we had a designated indoor space for it. Would definitely recommend the resort.

Waterpark was soooooo fun. The best part of the property! It’s dated, but has everything you need. Fully stocked kitchen (minus oil), clean bathroom. The pull out sofa was really old and thin, but the kids didn’t complain. Great value.
