"Nice hotel!"
We had a great experience at the west gate. We went for the fights in Vegas and our worry was to walk to the arena. They had the monorail conveniently available to take us close to the fight. The room was huge and very clean. The bath tub is the biggest I've ever seen. It was a great experience!

"Excellent suites one block off the strip. "
This was an exceptional hotel and suites. Free valet service, 4 pools, indoor interconnected walkway to the MGM. Walkway takes you directly to major pool access and mall type shopping and food court. ATM in walkway Tower 2 kept me from having to go all the way to the casino floor. King Bed was very comfortable even with my back problems. The spa tub is huge and easily big enough for 2 people. The shower was just as large. There were no problems with mobility issues for the entire room. Beautiful full glass wall of windows for great views. I have stayed at other top casinos in Vegas and I will be sure to look at this one first the next time I go. Easy walking access to the strip. You can walk through the MGM to the strip or take the side street. The new Park area of the strip is nearby, as well as a very easy walk to the Belagio to view the fountains. Across the street from there is the Eiffel Tower for more views, then an easy 15 minute walk back to the condo/suite. There is access to the Monorail in the MGM if you want to take it up the strip and walk the strip back to your room. This is a great couples location!

"Quick registration/checkout. Accommodating staff."
We had a relaxed and fun visit. Our room was very nice; the bed was comfortable. There was no hallway or other disturbing noise. The 24/7 cafe breakfasts and salads were excellent. Every employee we spoke with was courteous, professional and helpful.

"Major upgrades are on the way. "
I was hesitant about staying at the Monte Carlo, knowing that they are getting ready to "rebrand" the hotel and start major upgrades. You need to be aware that there is no pool at the Monte Carlo now and they have made arrangements at the MGM Grand to use their facilities but since its winter in Las Vegas, the loss of the pool was no big deal. The retail area on the way to the Bellagio tram is also gone during the reconstruction. While there is construction going on at the hotel, the public disturbance is minimal. Over the next year or two, over $400 million dollars will be put into the hotel for upgrades, which honestly are overdue. While the room was comfortable, they are starting to show their age. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, however, the dealers seem to be very unhappy with the changes going on. My biggest gripe(s) is having to pay the resort fee of $30/day for wireless access in my room. That's all I received. No coffee maker, no newspaper, no bottled water. You do have access to their business center but who goes to Vegas to work (not me). The other big turnoff is having to pay $8/day for self-parking. The bean counters have taken over and if you're looking for a lot of comp's, you won't find them at the MGM properties. Right now, the Monte Carlo is still a good value with a great location. Time will tell if the rebranding to "The Park at MGM" will result is much higher room rates.

The hotel staff refused certain services to us because we had booked using a third party service. That was very disappointing. In the future we will go directly to the hotel for booking our room. That way we wont be refused any services.
