"Treated like a homeless person while checking in"
I've stayed there for a week in '09 and I had reservations again. They were understaffed and even though there was not a soul in line-I had to wind my way around the invisible line and bars with my 1yr old. It took WAY too long. And the valet really needs work!

"Great find at a reasonable price! "
Hotel Fusion C has a super location in the heart of SF. Its like 20 steps away from Powell and you are smack in the shopping area near H&M, Uniqlo, Forever 21, Macy's, Victoria Secret, etc. And of course Union Square. What more can you ask! There's a dance club called Infusion, just at the basement - so cool (ask the reception for a special discount to enter the club). The room, though small, is clean and looks newly renovated. Even the ensuite toilet doesn't show any wear and tear yet. There's a coffee maker for a single cuppa, a safe, very decent wardrobe space and even sufficient clothes hangers (very important for us gals!). It is modern and compact and so very convenient to all the sights. You can take a bus to every part of town. I fully recommend this hotel if it fits your budget - I stayed there twice over 2 weekends (had to go to Palo Alto for work during the week) and love it! Definitely coming back if I return to SF again.

"Fine for the price"
Hotel Mark Twain has spacious guest rooms, attractive décor, friendly staff. It is undergoing renovation, our room had probably only recently been completed as it smelled of new carpet and paint as we entered, however it was not overbearing and we didn't notice it any other time except when entering the room. The windows don't open, which made us appreciate the ceiling fan - except it didn't work :-( so the room felt stuffy much of the time. Bathroom was small but efficient, however no hairdryer or tissues were included which is such a standard anymore it was surprising they were lacking. Also, the bar in the lobby was not operational. We stayed on a Saturday, there was a sign indicating wine service from 4-6 M-F so maybe that's what they are able to manage, but I had hoped to have a drink when we returned from dinner. Fortunately there are plenty of places for drinking, dining, shopping nearby but ask the desk staff which direction to NOT go as there are sketchy areas within blocks. That being said, we never felt unsafe or concerned.. Try the Taylor St café for breakfast next door, yummy!

"Perfect location"
Our room at this hotel reminded me more of a small apartment than a traditional hotel room. You can tell that the property is old but the style is funky and chic. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge. The location of this hotel is seriously perfect. Lots and lots of shopping within walking distance, close enough that you can stop back at your room to drop off bags. The cable car pick-up/drop-off is also only a couple blocks away. There is a large Walgreens directly across the street that has a grocery store for supplies. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you're looking for a room close to all of the downtown action.

"great location"
The hotel is in a great location. The room was clean and the decor was nice. The big problem is there is no insulation in the rooms. The doors slam very loud and you can hear people walking and talking in the halls. We were on the first floor and it sounded like a bowling alley was above us. We were there three nights and didn't get much sleep because of the people around us. They tell you they have free wifi but the service is very poor. Hard to get connected and once you do it either just spins and spins or drops out if you do get connected.
