This was a nice hotel, very convenient to everything we were doing. The staff was quite pleasant and helpful. Drawbacks were: shower gets hot and cold while you are in it; no air conditioning, but the fan and open window kept it cool enough; if you want an early check in, it will cost you $25.00 and you will be put in a back room, so it's best to wait.

Location was great. Rooms were clean and very quiet. Only issue was with the showers. The water would fluctuate between extremely hot then cold every 20 seconds or so. I informed the staff about this and said it would be looked into.

Older hotel near Union Square. The biggest problem is that they only have one working elevator as of 12/3/2018. Based on other reviews, their second elevator has been broken for months. The working elevator is very heavily used, due to the Elks Lodge and a live theater being on the floors above the lobby. Wait times for the elevator were significant. We stayed on the 12th floor (top floor), which may have been the cause of our oscillating hot and cold temperature in the shower. The volume of water coming out of the shower is also not satisfactory. This may be due to water conservation flow restrictors - but it is a dribble. Old fixtures. For the price, it is an ok hotel. Other more modern hotels in the area are 3 to 5 times the cost. Be sure to note that self-parking is not possible. Their valet parking is expensive.

This is a centrally located old tired hotel. The personnel can only do so much with the property. There is no A/C, the furniture is ancient but the bed was good.

Checked out the same night

Pros: That it was close enough to Lyft back home.
Cons: Stop being cheap and remodel for god's sake.
Location: SF is SF. But it's much bleaker when you stay in a hotel like this.
I needed a place to stay while at a conference in SF so I didn't have to drive up for an 8:30am event. I have no idea how this got a ranking above a 6. I'm thinking that bots must be boosting the ratings. This place is Old. And the carpet has clearly been with them since day 1. Everything is worn and dingy. At some point, you can't clean old. You need to rip out and remodel. When I walked into the lobby, I felt like I was in an old movie about a character who moved into a hotel to off himself. When I got into the room, with the shades pulled open on the never been cleaned windows, the desperation was palpable. I left after 5 minutes and found myself wandering SF in the bitter cold because I was afraid what sleeping in that room would do to my mental health. I decided that was ridiculous, went back, checked out and caught a Lyft an hour back to the South Bay. I can't imagine if I didn't live closer. I would've burned a few hundred moving to a livable hotel. I took a couple hundred dollar hit on the hotel and Lyft as it is. People, please take these reviews seriously. Many of us count on them. We've failed ourselves with this one. Terrible.

Small rooms and no air conditioning, very noisy

Pros: I love the location and the staff was great.
Cons: Everything room related. Increase beds to offer 2 queen size beds in some of the rooms, increase room size, decrease noise level somehow.
Location: Union Square, Bllomingdales, Sur La Table, Macys etc.
I thought I was getting a great deal, however, the staff was really great, the room was very small and the sink was about knee level. The room was extremely noisy all night long, there was no a/c at all and the room was dusty. The beds were double beds( why can't hotels offer queen size beds especially if I have my wife and my teenage son with me?) and small. Hotel is in a great location to Union Square but the trade off was the small room, no a/c, very noisy versu paying $300 or more for a better hotel for a better experience.
