Posh but old school

Pros: Location is good, we didn't mind the hills.
Really? Charging for internet in the room in 2016? The lobby bar closed an hour after midnight on New Years Eve?

Beautiful hotel, excellent staff!

Location: There were many things to do nearby and the cable car stop is just outside the hotel. I also would recommend Osso Steakhouse down the street!
The hotel is easy to find, beautiful, and definitely worth the money spent. The woman that checked us in upgraded us to a king size bed and sent champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room to help us celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. The bell desk, concierge, and room service staff were all amazing as well and super helpful! The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in in a hotel and I appreciated the different pillow options. Overall I would stay in this hotel hands down again and again.

Recommend newer building

Pros: Location, history
Cons: Old feel, fee for fitness center not clearly disclosed.
The older building does not have the comforts of the newer building - bed not as comfortable, etc. Also, though nothing was mentioned in the Hotel Overview other than there was a Fitness Center, they charge $15 to hotel guests to use the Fitness Center, stating that it is privately owned. This would have been nice to know in advance.

Great hotel with just one glitch

The hotel and cleaning staff were great. The rooms were spotless. The hotel itself was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. My only problem was with check in. Unfortunately we had to come earlier in the day than expected because we had to leave prior to a hurricane. We showed up at 11 am and asked if we could check our bags until the 3 pm check in. We were offered that none in our amount were ready but for $40 more a night there was 1 ready. After agreeing to this based on the availability it suddenly became not ready yet and they would call us when it was ready. We were not able to go in until the 3 pm check in when we were notified. Beautiful room and view but a little irked at the misrepresentation.

Grand Hotel Atop of Nob Hill-

Pros: While the entry will razzle dazzle you..The Bed and sheets are the treat! Rooms are well appointed ( Bathrooms are on the small side).
Cons: The size of the bathrooms could be larger, 2 robes in the bath (not just one:( and the price of housing a car for the night is ridiculous at $58/day.
Location: The location of the Fairmont SF, is excellent! Cable Car access, Financial district, dinning and shopping...not to mention close to the wharf.
The Fairmont never disappoints! We have stayed at The Fairmont -Victoria and now San Francisco. I always live wishing it could be longer. Though the price point is as steep as the hill it sits on, I can tell you that they do offer discounts on certain days and travelocity made that happen for us. Also, it's ALWAYS a good idea to join their Loyalty Programs. I love Fairmonts and hope to stay again soon.

Great

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
The staff went above and beyond making our stay pleasant, if we needed help with direction or just getting a car they always were glad to do so. I would stay again.

Stately Grand Old Hotel

Pros: Stately elegant!
We arrived on January 1st and the grand lobby was still decorated for Christmas. It was beautiful. The Room had been redone since my last visit and was very nicely updated. The service staff was splendid. No shortcomings were encountered at all.

Nice, historic hotel close to many things to do.

Pros: history and staff
Cons: bathroom size and lack of luxury in the bathroom
Location: the pier is down the hill, china town is very close, financial district is close. good location
Very old, historic hotel in SF, amazing staff and clean, comfortable room. Bathroom is on the small side and overall the price of the room seems a little high for what you get in the room. However, every single staff member was spot on professionally, and the overall experience was worth it.

Lovely Night

Pros: Beautiful lobby. Great waitress in dining room.
Cons: We had a drink before dinner in the lounge and it took forever to get two glasses of wine. It seems the bartenders were overwhelmed by a wedding.
We arrived early and were pleasantly surprised to be able to check into our room, which was very comfortable. But what really made an impression was the waitress at dinner that night. I had joked with her about not having an appetizer so that I could have a dessert. However, at the end of the entrée, we realized I needed to return to the room with my son to give him some medication. My husband stayed behind to pay the bill. When the waitress saw we were gone, she gave my husband a huge chocolate chip cookie to bring back to the room so that we could have dessert after all. That is the sort of kindness that customers don't forget. Thank you, Fairmont.
