Good location but ...

Overall, we had a great holiday in Playa del Carmen. The house was in a great location and we loved the town and the area. The property was ok, but there were some dissatisfactory things about it. In the lounge, there are three small cameras pointing in different directions. We were given no explanation by Marco (property manager) as to why they were there or whether they were on, but there was a green flashing light so I assumed they were working. It felt a bit uncomfortable knowing that we might be being watched or recorded. We were provided with 8 sets of towels for four people for 12 nights. This wasn't quite enough as we were showering sometimes twice a day as it was hot. There are no places to dry them, no tumble dryer or washing machine, no heated towel rail. I asked for replacements mid-holiday and Marco told us to go and wash them at the laundrette. They were thin and some had holes in. Some of the pillows need replacing - they smelled really bad of many sweaty heads. The tablecloths were dirty. The house has a nice layout and was good for our family reunion. The pool area is very nice. We paid for two properties for two families and it did feel sub-standard for what we paid.

Horrible situation

First of all I was never informed of a 1000 security deposit until I arrived. No problem I had it. We got in late and had nasty old towels and no washcloths no hot water no drinking water and no toiletries at all. Then we had to walk to a store at night because we had babies with us that had to have fresh water. Next day immediately to Walmart to buy towels and washcloths and toiletries. Let’s talk about bugs. Tiny nasty bugs all over the floors bathroom and kitchen counters. Disgusting. Regardless of horrific it was and how humiliated I was by selecting this place to treat my friends and family to a Christmas vacation, we made the most of it. We left the place like we found it and perhaps even better because we actually cleaned the refrigerators and left the new towels. Now that we are back Marco is lying stating that the property was damaged and towels were missing (as if we wanted hard nasty old towels) and sheets were missing? Sheets were all he provided so we froze our behinds off the 1st 3 nights. And he said that the guests bracelet he provided was misused when I have the text from him telling me I could give it to the chef I hired personally which has nothing to do with him at all. All he had to do was reach out to security where he owns a property and get my chef cleared to enter but he allowed the situation to exasperate until I pressed him out to get it straight. All in all we enjoyed the beach and Mexico overall but I would never rent here again ever. Oh and did I mention the creepy cameras in the house watching you! Marco you are terrible and should be ashamed of yourself.
