"Hotel was conveniently located about 10-15 min walking to nearest bus stop or cable car. 1 king bed room we stayed had a good size bedroom and bathroom for two people. Location of the AC in the bedroom bothered us since it was installed above the bed with fans pointing towards the bed and it was not possible to redirect the orientation of the fans. We had to run it before bedtime to air the room and then turn it off since it was too loud and cold but then room may get little stuffy. They charge $20 amenities fee which we never heard of in any of our stays in CA. This included breakfast which had tea, coffee and croissants and muffins which were not very fresh but edible. We rather have breakfast not included and not pay for it and choose what to eat ourselves rather than eating the same thing every morning. Staff was very nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay. "

"This hotel is central to everywhere we want to go in SF! Plus, we feel safe in this neighbourhood. We love the atmosphere at Union Square, and BART is close by for our trips out to the suburbs. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Our room was nice and clean, and our room requests were met 100%. We have stayed at the Handlery many times over the years, and will stay here again! Thank you!"

"Check-in started well. The front desk staff member was pleasant and agreed to a late checkout at 12 noon instead of 11 am as my flight was an evening one. That positive impression was undone on the final evening when I went to reconfirm my conversation with the female staff who was not on duty at that time. I spoke to another staff member (likely a supervisor), who was rude and dismissive, and flatly refused the previously agreed late checkout, insisting the room was needed by 11:00 a.m. This was both inconsistent and poorly handled. To make matters worse, my room was not cleaned at all during my three-night stay, despite my request. The hotel is modern and well located, but the service particularly the attitude of that staff member was unacceptable and significantly detracted from my stay."

"Excellent city view (worth the price). Great location on Nob Hill. Ideal for family stay. Extortion pricing in the lobby machines and mini-store (($8.00 for a 4 oz. bottle of Pepto-Bismal, $10.60 for one bottle of cold beer!!). Just do your shopping in the surrounding shops..."
