On the eastern side of the downtown area is the South of Market (SoMa) district, which has undergone urban renewal in recent years. Once known for its nightlife, the area is now home to entertainment complexes, museums, and sports centers—the nightlife is still pretty pumping though! If you're in town during the baseball season from April to October, you can catch a San Francisco Giants game at AT&T Park. SoMa also has a few alternative museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art, and the Cartoon Art Museum. South of Market hotels give you easy access to all these attractions.

Away from SoMa are two of San Francisco's most iconic sights: the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. The Bridge is the defining structure of the city, and no vacations in San Francisco are complete without seeing it. Just north of SoMa is Fisherman's Wharf, a popular tourist area with tons of restaurants, an aquarium, street performers, and much more. You can take a ferry ride from here to the old prison island Alcatraz and take a tour: It's particularly creepy at night!

"Great proximity to the Moscone center with a lot of restaurants around including Starbucks and Peets. Depending on where your room is, it’s generally quiet except for the doors slamming by other guest unfortunately. Staff were very nice, friendly and accommodating. Room was spacious and clean. Would recommend. BART was around the corner and bus 30 stopped literally in front of it."

"Staff was very helpful and nice, Rooms were clean, rooms a little smaler than what I'm use but ok. Gym is ok enough to keep your fitness up, Place was secure, there's a lot of food place close by, Moscone Center is 11 mins walk away. I enjoyed my stay"

"This is an older property that has not been well maintained. There were several chips in paint and areas needing to be repainted. The walls are thin and we could clearly hear people in the next room. The bed was uncomfortable and hard to sleep in. I woke up in the middle of the night to a strong smell of Marijuana smoke. Not sure if it cane through the ventilation or from the adjoining room door, but it was as strong as someone smoking in the room. The room entry is cramped and getting in and out of the closet, bathroom, and main door were like a puzzle that made it difficult for two people to get ready to go out at the same time."

"The breakfast was delicious, everything was fresh and abundant. Kitchen staff was friendly and ready to help with whatever you needed. Our room was clean and our view was amazing even the balcony was nice. The prices was great! Staff at front desk was front desk from the moment we arrived to when we left were so friendly and helpful. The location was close to Union station and the trolley that took us all over San Francisco which was amazing 👏 we had an awesome 21st anniversary."
