The rooms and other areas of the hotel were very clean, and the staff was very friendly. DO NOT get the all-inclusive package at this hotel. There are only two small restaurants open for dinner and it was very difficult to get reservations. The food at the buffet was good for breakfast but very bad for dinner, so you will want to eat at the nicer restaurants. The staff tried very hard to accommodate us, but there were too many people compared to the number of available seats, so there was not much they could do. I would not go back to this property until they build another sit-down restaurant.

We were a family of 6 and it seemed to be just right for our demographic. There wasn't a bunch of partying, but it was still fun for everyone. They had things to do for all of us and overall the food buffets were good and had variety. Like many other reviews have stated, the a la carte restaurants are pretty hard to get a reservation in, but we managed to eat at both ones and they were pretty good. Also, the beach was a bit disappointing because of the erosion, but we made the best of it and still swam. The staff made a big effort to ensure that we could at least hangout at the beach and enjoy it. The Spa was great and we enjoyed the couples massage. Our kids did the fish treatment which they got a kick out of. Our room was perfect, we got both sides, which they call an "A&B" suite. Very spacious and clean. We tipped with pesos to most of our servers and cleaning staff and they really appreciated it and went the extra mile. Overall, the Royal Haciendas is a great family "cookie cutter" type all inclusive that you won't regret at all.

This was our 4th stay at this property and we loved it as we always do. We were disappointed about not being able to book the Villa even when booking in advance, but the room was still nice. Food great and staff is friendly.

I would not recommend

It is certainly a beautiful property, and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately there were a lot of negatives to our experience. They assign you a concierge which sells you on a quote un-quote quick presentation. They then try to shove their time share down your throat. My wife wasn't feeling well that day, but they did everything possible to block her from leaving, in turn we missed our excursion that day. My wife and I both got sick to our stomachs from the buffet; my wife on Tuesday and myself on Thursday, so the majority of the 5 days we were there, we weren't feeling well. Also when they say all inclusive, there is a caveat to that. If you want any premium alcohol, there is an up-charge for that. At their steak and seafood restaurant, the nice steaks or seafoods are an up-charge as well. The Asian restaurant we couldn't even get into, because they were booked 3 days straight. So we ended up just eating outside of the hotel most of the time. What we did like was the Mexican people, culture, history, excursions, cuisine, etc.

Our double room was great for a family of five. We loved the jacuzzi on the balcony and it had 2 Murphy beds in the living room in addition to the 2 bedrooms. The pools were nice, the facility clean. Shuttle transportation was convenient with Thomas Moore, a shuttle company located in their lobby, but pricey. Not a ton of resort activities- they did not have kayaks or paddleboards like advertised. The sand at the beach was nice but it’s not really a swimming beach due to rocks and such. The drinks were fine but we thought the food was terrible. If you like fried foods, hamburgers, pizza, and hot dogs you will be fine but it was very difficult to find fresh foods or healthy options. I was disappointed how hard it was to get any decent fruit and the salad bar was dismal to non-existent.

This is a perfect resort for a quiet family vacation. The resort isn’t to big to wear out kids walking around, the amount of people for the size of pools available is also a good ratio. Yes the beach is eroded away but there’s enough other places to go to spend an awesome vacation.
