Property was horrible and definitely not a 5 star. Got food poisoning from the hotel food on the first day there (only drank bottled water and no ice). Room in poor condition with several broken pieces of wood in room, unsafe broken outlet missing parts, rust and black mold in shower, shower pan was peeling. Couple of days in and cold water stopped working along with no water in toilet. Had to pack up the whole family and move to another room (didnt even upgrade us or offer anything. New room was not in much better shape with even more rust along with cracked bathroom sink. No concierge or room service, pool was tiny and crowded with not much room to swim and kept getting hit with volleyballs, swim up bar was not a real swim up bar and had to get out of pool to get a drink. Food was horrible with steak being rubbery and gristle, wasn't a single good meal there. If this is what Riu considers a 5 star property, i will never stay at a Riu property again.

It was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Because it is all inclusive, the amount of drunk and loud people continued all night long. We woke up several times to people yelling, slamming doors, loudly vomiting and that was not enjoyable. Maybe if they could put family in one area and more "party" type in another area?!?!

Our stay was very nice in RIU Yucatan, food is good however there is some room for improvement: Shortage of personnel in restaurants make the service slow. The hotel is old and need some updates in bedrooms furniture. Pool borders need repair. Also water filters may need some maintenance, water specially in pool bar looks dirty, one time it had to be closed due to dirty water.

The food options for the price paid is a good value. The liquor options are sorely lacking. Nothing even average is offered. They can't even make drinks properly because they don't have the right liquors needed. The rooms really need updated. Only one outlet in the living area to charge electronics is woefully inadequate. The room cleaners need to stay put of people's stuff. I let them clean my room one day and they went through my stuff that was zipped up and closed. I did not get my room cleaned again for fear of stuff being stolen. That is completely unnecessary for guests to have to deal with. I've stayed at other Riu properties in the past, and this was the most disappointing experience compared to the others.

I recently spent 7 incredible days at Hotel Riu Cancún, and I can confidently say it was one of the best vacation experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and taken care of. The hotel is stunning — modern, clean, and located right on a beautiful stretch of white-sand beach with crystal-clear turquoise water. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of options at the buffets and à la carte restaurants. Every meal felt like a treat. The all-inclusive service truly delivered — drinks, snacks, and entertainment were available around the clock. The pools were amazing, and the beach access was perfect for both relaxing and enjoying water activities. The entertainment team was energetic and friendly, organizing fun events and shows every night that made the stay even more memorable. My room was spacious, comfortable, and had an incredible view of the ocean. Housekeeping was consistent and respectful, keeping everything spotless. If I had to mention one thing that could improve, it might be the check-in process, which took a bit longer than expected — but that small delay was quickly forgotten once I settled in. Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel Riu Yucatan to anyone looking for a mix of relaxation, fun, great food, and beautiful surroundings. I left with my heart full and already dreaming of coming back.
