About this property

The River View Barnhouse - Gateway to the Sequoia National Forest

The River View Barnhouse is in the foothills of Springville, CA right on the way to the Sequoia National Forest and a 2 minute drive to the Springville Ranch. It is a bright, cheerful, smoke and pet free guesthouse with 2 large bedrooms and a full bath upstairs and a roomy kitchenette downstairs with everything you need. (Note: toaster oven only, no real oven). Whether you want to Netflix and chill, bbq by the pond, relax before or after an event at the Ranch, or explore the foothills, we got you covered.
Conveniently located right down the street from the Springville Ranch. The perfect spot to rest before or after celebrating a special occasion!
You will love the comfortable farmhouse chic atmosphere with all the modern amenities that the Barnhouse provides. It is very spacious, welcoming and relaxing.
Our property comes with a natural plant-filtered pond with a beautiful waterfall that is perfect to hang out next to and bbq, read a book or take a nap in the hammock and listen to the songs of the frogs at night. We have the Tule River flowing in our backyard (how much of a flow depends on the season and how much rain/snow we’ve had- it can range from a small trickle in the summer to raging, near overflowing in the spring) with many swimming holes within short driving distance. We also have a friendly dog named Copper (mixed German Shepherd) who will be at your beck and call. He is extraordinarily friendly and loves to be petted. You’ll also probably meet Kady Mae, our Golden Retriever, who is a new addition to our dog tribe. Don’t be afraid to give them some love! We also have a group of turkeys that usually come around several times a day. I lovingly refer to them as John, Paul, Ringo, and George. We have also seen peacocks, raccoons, woodpeckers, bald eagles, and opossum on the property. And although, we have never seen it with our own eyes, we know there has been an occasional bear who has dug through our trash during the night!
We are very centrally located for golf at River Island (currently in renovation after the flood of 2023), spending the day at Lake Success or hiking in the Sequoia National Forest.
Feeling hungry? Get your grub on at the Hamburger Stand, Poor Richard's Pizza or Java Express - just minutes away! You won’t regret it!

Cute cozy cabin
We visited Springville on a cold and rainy weekend but the cabin was very warm and cozy. Everything was very clean and we had just about everything we needed. The bed was a little uncomfortable for my husband. He said there was a big sag in the middle of the mattress. It is a beautiful property right on the river but instructions tell us not to wander around the property so that was a little disappointing. I don’t want to bother the homeowners but I would’ve like to have a little more freedom to enjoy the beautiful setting. One thing I really didn’t like was that all the windows are covered with privacy screen so you can’t see out at this beautiful setting. I can understand why some windows are covered but others would not have impeded anybody’s privacy. Sitting downstairs and not being able to look out the windows was just claustrophobic. We appreciated that the homeowner invited us to pick fruit from their citrus trees and got some delicious oranges and pomelos. Springville is a cute little town. We had a good dinner at El Tapatio and we really enjoyed shopping at The Station. Upper coffee Camp was closed but we still got to enjoy the ride up through Sequoia national Forest and the beautiful rushing river. All in all a nice weekend.
