New York Getaway

Pros: Comfortable, in a good section of New York.
Location: Subway leads to everywhere. But Little Italy is right around the corner, great food and drinks.
Last minute weekend getaway for a family of five. Started with tickets to a game at Yankee Stadium and turned into a full weekend.

Great for the young which we are not.

Quirky fun place. But no elevator. Staff was fabulous and got us a room only one flight up. No closet. There were bars with hangers . Our room was small. Bathroom recently renovated. Great shower and great toiletries but 6' husband found it small. Staff was marvelous friendly and helpful. Great location.

Pros: The staff, the accommodations, the location, everything!
Cons: nothing
Location: perfect location. everything was within walking location and if not the train was

Great Hotel, Amazing Value for the Price!

Pros: Clean, friendly staff, great location.
Cons: Maybe room could have been a little bigger. but understandable for the price
Location: Its in chinatown, near the subway train etc...
I really enjoyed my stay here! Staff was just great. Friendly, courteous, very helpful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. For the prices its just unbeatable. I have stayed in NYC at other places in that price range and the experiences as not good. But Sohotel was just great.

Central location to everything we wanted to do!

Pros: Uniqueness, location and staff
Cons: Zip it is nice the way it is!
Location: close to little Italy. Walking distance from subway. Great shopping and eateries!

Great Location

Pros: Best part of this hotel is the location. The room was clean and the hotel nicely decorated.
Cons: Stop turning off the air conditioner!
Location: Skip Little Italy restaurants and go to Forlini's...you won't regret it! Eileens Special Cheesecake on Cleveland and the pizza joint next door to it.
Sohotel is located in a great location. We were able to walk to Chinatown, Little Italy and shopping on Canal, Broadway etc. as well as plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from. Its also has close access to the subway which we used a lot. The room was a tight squeeze, very little space between wall and beds but that was expected. The beds were comfortable and the staff was friendly. We were a family of five and stayed for an entire week. They pretty much left us alone except to clean up the room when needed. One thing that bothered me was the cleaning staff knocking on the door and opening it without waiting for an answer even after the room had been serviced for the day. We put up the privacy sign and it stopped...but I've never experienced that before. We figured out that they were opening the doors to flip the main switch that operated the air conditioning in the room. Unfortunately, we figured it out after a long day of shopping and coming back to a hot room. So we left the sign on when we left and were able to come back to a cool room.

Bad Location, Rude Staff, Poor Service

Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet, Noisy
I am a seasoned traveler and am always excited to stay in a place with such history to it! Upon entering the hotel, no one helped with bags, which was unusual but fine. The lobby was decorated nicely and there were many menus and pamphlets for nearby places available which was very nice. Upon check-in, we were ignored by the woman behind the desk for over 5 minutes. I had to say "excuse me" 3 times before she sighed heavily and glanced up at me. She barely said two words during the checkin process besides asking for the name, ID and pointing to the room. The room itself was painted in a horrid yellow color and the bathroom was tiny and poorly kept. We received a notice that the water would be shut off for most of the next day, that was exciting. We could hear loud guests yelling, talking and moving about the hotel past our door most of the night. In the morning around 9am, housekeeping knocked on the door and asked if we could leave! Not how long we'd be there, or what time to come back but if we coudl get out so they could clean! We left shortly after for the day and returned around 4:30pm to find out bed stripped, sheets balled up on the chair and our door open. We decided to wait in the lobby, perhaps someone was getting new sheets or a cart? We waited for over an hour, asking at the desk twice. One we were met with a shrug, second time an "i'll check" but the person remained at the desk typing on the computer. Finally, the bell hop noticed we had been sitting in the lobby for quite a long time, and said he would get someone to finish. After 2 hours we were back in our room with no water. Just an added note too, the area around the hotel smells badly of rotten fish and it is quite out of the way from tourist attractions.

Great Experience

The hotel looks exactly like the pictures. Staff was courteous and great accomodations. Clean rooms, also plenty spacious for three people to share. Great location in SoHo. Very happy with our experience.

I wish this site was able to upload photos so that I could show you the bedbug bites that I came home with! I was just relieved that none seemed to get into my suitcase and come home with me. I would never stay here again.
