Comfort and Convenience

Pros: I loved the affordable small suites since I was required to stay with a colleague who was on a different sleeping schedule.
Cons: Room smelled like it had many years ago been a smoking room but had been refurbished to be non smoking.
Location: Only steps away from the subway #1 line and Broadway. Everything you need on the sidewalk around the entrance.
I came to New York for a teaching conference and had never been in the big city before. Staying at the Lucerne made everything easier. It is only a block from a subway station and has a lot of restaurants, cafes, and markets within steps of its front door. I felt lucky that I had such a nice, quiet, and beautiful room to come back to at the end of each long day. Many of my friends stayed in competing hotels and, for the price, I felt this hotel was the best for comfort, convenience, beauty, and service. I will return!

Great Upper West Side Location

My stay at The Lucerne Hotel was wonderful! The only reason I didn't rank the hotel staff 5 stars was because our room wasn't cleaned one day. (We did not have the Privacy Please tag on the door.) However, when I called that evening to request fresh towels, a housekeeping director came to our room and did a quick refresh with towels and coffee supplies. The room was bright, spacious, and very comfortable. The location is outstanding, an easy walk to museums and Central Park. There are many charming restaurants and cafes within a few blocks. I will definitely want to stay there again.

I love the area...and the hotel is comfortable.

The air conditioning went out both nights that we stayed in our room. That was a problem as the outside temperature was close to 90 degrees. The manager did discount our room by $25/day. That seemed a reasonable accommodation.

luxury, cleanliness, comfort and convenience

Pros: Excellent restaurant on-site. Free NY Times daily. Friendly and welcoming staff. Well supplied fitness center. Turn down service and chocolate :)
Cons: Coffee supplies in room could be more generous. There were four of us and we only ever had 2 mugs, K-cups and fixings.
Location: Discount at overnight parking garage across the street, short walk to The Natural History Museum, and quick taxi ride to The Met and Broadway shows
We arrived prior to the 4 pm check-in, but were quickly accommodated by Chris. When we realized our room was a little too close to a noisy construction site, he willingly relocated us. Our room was luxurious, spacious and offered fresh air and a fabulous view of the city.

Most unwelcome arrival experience ever!

Pros: The location, the updated bathroom, the restaurant (Nice Matin), which is wonderful.
Cons: The rooms could be cleaner, supplies (like soap) available. The staff could certainly be more civil.
Location: It's a great neighborhood, very easy to reach by car and near museums and Central Park. Wish my stay had been more pleasant. Will look elsewhere now.
I was greeted by the desk manager who informed me that because of a "problem with a room" I would be transported to another hotel, even though I had a confirmed reservation at the Lucerne for two nights and had already had turned over my car to valet parking. It took fifteen minutes of argument (and finally threats to share my very unhappy experience with a prominent New York City cultural leader) before a room was automatically "found." The manager was sarcastic, unpleasant, and dismissive. Perhaps because I was a woman traveling alone. Obviously the hotel overbooks and shunts off reserved guests to lesser hotels when they can get away with it. Will not book here again because there is no guarantee of a room, even with a confirmed booking.

Relaxing weekend

Pros: Location, great bed, helpful staff, quiet room.
Cons: How about a mini fridge.
Location: Umm, its NYC. Park and Natural History museum are steps away. No shortage of restaurants in the neighborhood.
A weekend in NY, relaxing? It was at the Lucerne! Everything was easy and comfortable. First of all, the location is delightful in the heart of the upper west side, a neighborhood that I love far from the tourist craziness of midtown. Plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and of course Zabar's, Fairway and Citarella, and less than one block to the 79th st subway stop. On arrival I handed my car keys to the doorman to valet park and went up to our spacious room with wonderful, comfortable king bed. Our room faced the interior of the block which meant no view but perfectly quiet, and we were quite happy with that. The room had a Keurig with a few capsules. A mini fridge would have been nice. Right off the lobby is a popular bistro called Nice Matin where I had a wonderful breakfast. The staff was always courteous and helpful. Over all the Lucerne helped make our weekend enjoyable and relaxing, and we definitely plan to stay there again the next time we come to the city.
