This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a cheaper option in the Manhatten area. The rooms are very small compared to normal hotel rooms but if all you need is a bed and sink, it's no problem. They provide free coffee/tea to guests and even let us check-in early because our room was available. No elevators which may be an issue to some but younger couples and families shouldn't have too many issues. Overall a great experience and would come back.

Make sure you have a clear understanding of the building otherwise if you are expecting a more hotel experience you will be left frustrated. I enjoyed The Flat only cause I went in with the understanding it was closer to hostel than hotel which is what I knew on booking. It’s in a great location. The shared bathrooms were regularly cleaned and you felt safe in the building.

Great stay for someone who has a packed itinerary during their stay. Super quiet within the building. I felt safe. Shared (full) bathrooms were very clean, but narrow. I wish the showers had a shelf for my toiletries. I would stay again!

There are no elevators but they make it very clear so no one should rate it lower because of not having elevators. Also, bathrooms are shared but I never had to wait and it was super clean. So these are the only two drawbacks if they are must haves then don´t consider. But otherwise, knowing these it is a five star for cost benefit. Will stay again!

Totally fine. Excellent location in manhattan. Free water and coffee makes all the difference and prob saved $15 a day. I was on the fifth floor and had no issues whatsoever. Even in a high end hotel in the city you’d probably want earplugs if you’re on the fifth floor so this place is no different. Would definitely return.

Stayed for 5 nights. Fantastic location, walking distance to everything. Room was good, bit noisy by the stairs but earplugs did the trick. Bathroom access never an issue. Room 305 needs a chair or table to put your bag/clothes on. Room is bare with just a bed and a little bedside table. I would definitely stay here again!
