Disappointingly Small

Pros: Location and the international clientele.
Cons: Honesty about the standard room size.
Let me start with the positive. Since we were going to the theater, the hotel's location could not have been better. We were also entering The Holland Tunnel within 5 minutes of exiting the parking garage. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable and we are both fussy about the bed. The bathroom was nice and recently updated. The major disappointment was the room size. On the hotel's website, it states the standard room is 315 sg ft. The room was maybe 180. It was difficult for us to navigate around the bed. I contacted the front desk and they said I got the room I paid for. I mentioned the huge discrepency between the web site description and the reality of it. They did not try to defend it and just kept saying I got the room I paid for. In retrospect, I should have called Travelocity immediately. When Travelocity contacted them the hotel staff said I had a kitchenette as if this was a separate room. The small kitchen facility was part of the 150-180 sq ft. The hotel has 3 small elevators and 40 floors. At peak times it may take you 10 minutes to get an elevator up or down. We were on the 5th floor and chose to take the steps down most times. But this is NY and all buildings are tall. The breakfast was decent and at peak hours quite crowded. Each room has a tray to bring it back to your room however the room is so small, it makes eating here tenuous. They did keep items replenished at all times. The lobby is very small and very crowded most of the time.

Has potential

WHAT WAS GOOD- 1- Good location close to time square and subway. 2- The room was cute and clean with a good view from 36th floor. The small kitchen was convenient. 3- The breakfast had a good variety of foods, healthy options, and plenty of food (which is saying a lot given the hords of people going through every morning). 4- The staff was friendly and helpful (if obviously overworked) even going out of their way to grab us some breakfast items from the back when we arrived after the closing time due to circumstances I will mention later. WHAT WAS WRONG- 1- This was one of the most crowded hotels I've ever been in. There were lines to check in, lines for the elevator, lines for breakfast, lines, lines, lines. 2- One of the only 3 elevators was broken. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get an elevator to breakfast in the morning. I walked down 36 flights of stairs the first day. Almost Missed breakfast the next day (I mentioned above that a helpful staff member saved me.) Then figured out that if we sent our teenage son down about 10 floors he could catch an elevator on the way up and push our floor button to pick us up. Even that usually took 30 minutes to get downstairs. 3- Although the breakfast was good, it was so crowded there was rarely anywhere to sit (and there was No WAY we were going back up to room to eat and brave the elevator situation again!) We never got coffee supplies in our room to, at least, make coffee in our room. ASK ABOUT ELEVATORS before staying here!

Great lovation

Nice hotel with a great location. Only problem we had was that breakfast was really crowded. The food was delicious and we liked that it was complimentary.

Beautiful contemporary hotel

Very lovely hotel that is tastefully decorated with contemporary design. Roomy enough for 4 adults and a nice kitchenette with everything you need. We loved our room!

Excellent hotel

I would recommend this to any with children. Kitchen a plus it had all essentials for cooking or just preparing snacks. Room comfortable and clean. Morning breakfast and afternoon snacks were good no need to eat out except for dinner. Savings! Most attractions are in walking distance. Savings on cab fares!

Well worth it.

Pros: The view, the location and the staff's helpfulness.
Cons: See above.
We stayed here a couple years ago and came back again. It is a great hotel, a great location to see Manhattan by walking and we had a great view out the window. The interior could use a little sprucing up - the plants are dying and the place needs to be maintained better.

Element Hotel in great location and very nice

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, kitchennette
Cons: complimentary happy hour is only monday-thursday
My husband and I loved this suite style hotel because we could go out to dinner and bring leftovers back to eat later (fridge and microwave). Hotel is less than 3 blocks away in every direction from Times Square, the theaters and the pier. We were not able to try the complementary breakfast. If the nightly rate was a little lower we would have stayed an extra day. Our only complaint was that the happy hour wasn't on the weekends (unlike one of your competitors). But we will definitely stay there again.
