Pretty disappointed with the room and 6th floor near us. Our room had a bad musty smell that seemed to come from the bathroom shower. Couldn’t see any ventilation system in bathroom so that’s probably why. Also after checking in and throughout our stay there was cigarette smoke coming from a room close to ours on 6th floor. So musty smell in the room and cigarette smoke outside of it. The hotel is non smoking. I called the front desk to let them know about the cigarette smell the first night. They said they’d take care of it but the next afternoon after coming back to our room, we once again could smell someone smoking. Hotel location was great. The front desk was friendly. But I would never stay here again because of the room smell and allowed smoking.

This was our second stay at the Belleclaire. We upgraded to a larger room which was worth it for the extra space, albeit the bathrooms lack any counter space. The hotel is in a great location, just a few blocks from Central Park, the Hudson River, and two subway stations. There are also some very good restaurants in the area. Our room faced Broadway and was on the 9th floor and was surprisingly quiet, I would choose a high floor in the future. Mille Feuille has a good selection of pastries, quiches, and sandwiches in addition to coffee and juice. It’s nice to get breakfast everyday downstairs or grab an afternoon snack. We look forward to our next trip.

Nice hotel, great location, wonderful staff. Unfortunately, a lack of soundproofing mostly caused by the flimsy (hollow) doors made our stay less enjoyable. We heard every conversation in the hallway and every sound (TV, every word spoken) coming from the room connected to ours. The two doors connecting the rooms did nothing to prevent that from happening and caused a complete loss of privacy. Such a shame. Otherwise, it’s a nice hotel.
