Just a bit of that "Old Time Hollywood Glamour" !

Pros: Indoor pool. Comfortable beds. Very good hot water for the shower. Great Blues music playing in the bar. The BEST priced latte at Rendevous Court.
Location: Downtown LA. Across the street from Pershing Square[Metro entry]. Grand Central Market. Coles Saloon. Water Grill. Shopping. Oleavera street. LA LIVE
The hotel is located within walking distance to everything going on downtown! Easy access to the Metro. The staff at the Biltmore was able to check us in early{ before 11 am ].This was wonderful and allowed us time for brunch at Grand Central Market. The room was very clean and great temperature control.[my husband and I go back and forth about "too hot/too cold"].The pool was maintained as if it were ready for every "jazz baby socialite" to meet, greet and party with the stars. Lovely! We loved the steam room. Since my husband and I did not rent a car, we were able to appreciate "walking in L.A." No disappointments. We would certainly have the Biltmore on our Top 3 of places to stay at in downtown Los Angeles. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback following your stay at our landmark hotel! We were delighted you were able to enjoy burgeoning downtown L.A. so extensively during your visit, as well as our facilities. You may be interested to know that "Bugsy" and "Cocoon" both were filmed in our swimming pool and fitness center! We hope you will visit us again soon and experience our newly refurbished guest rooms. Safe travels!

The staff was friendly, the room/common areas were clean and beautiful. The rooms could have been a touch larger, but that's so inconsequential in the grand scheme of things!!

Classic old hotel with motion picture history.

Pros: Historic character and charm of old classic. I have been staying at this hotel for over 50 years.
Cons: In room information on dining alternatives for the immediate area of hotel would add to hotel's service to its guests.
Location: Central down town Los Angeles and walking distance to the Diamond and Jewlery markets.
Dinning facilities adequate, but additional dinning options would have improved experience.

The hotel was likely very beautiful and elegant in the past, but is now very dingy and run down. The walls were dirty with hand prints and chipped paint. Along the baseboards the carpet was dirty. The upholstery on the chair in my room was dirty. Even in the lobby furniture was dusty and dirty. In spite of this, the price of food, whether in the restaurants or through room service, was quite pricey for somewhat mundane offerings.

Nice old architecture, no air conditioning.

Cons: Air conditioning.
Lobby is fabulous. Rooms are very old, and in my case the air conditioning was non existent. Card key system was being replace and this caused me to make several trips to the front desk to get a working room key and access to the fitness center.

Great historic public rms, but don't stay there

Pros: Historic architecture
Cons: Needs a major renovation of the standard accomodations
Location: Right on the edge of the banking district in one direction, and skid row in the other direction, which didn't feel safe at night, but daytime OK
Historic architecture in public rooms is great, staff helpful, BUT everything looks tired, worn, scratched, lumpy, cracked, or broken. I refused the first "standard" room which faced a brick wall and had a huge, noisy ventilator shaft running outside the window. The second room was adequate from a view standpoint, but always had a musty smell that made me think the air-conditioning vents needed a big clean out. Found several long strands of black hair (I have short hair) in the bathroom and on one of the beds during my stay. Many wooden louvers at the window were broken, switch on floor lamp broken, sink cracked and discolored, mold in corner where floor met tub, lock mechanism was "unscrewing itself" from the door plate and needed TLC to get the door closed. Need I say more?

Weekend Getaway

I enjoyed my stay there just disappointed on the amount for parking. $45 a day. Also for the amount I spent per night I would have expected at least a fridge and microwave. I spent less for one night at another hotel on a Friday night and had both in my room and it was larger. Overal nice just a bit pricey for me. Especially because I live in the area.

Stay at this hotel but not in your room

Pros: historic ambience and large public spaces
Cons: I am guessing that it will take $20M or so to fully update the rooms. Not sure about the ROI on that.
Location: Pershing Square's Metro station is handy, but police activity there seemed frequent. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby.
Others have written about how tired the rooms are and they have a point. However, the historic merits make this hotel stand out from most others. If you want to stay in your room, go elsewhere. If you want to see beautiful "public" spaces with gorgeous ceilings and good food and drink, try this place.

Downtown L.A. anniversary vacation.

Pros: The building, the architecture is magnificent the lobby i could just sit and admire the amazing work.
Cons: Just the noise if somehow it could be a little more soundproof.
Location: Downtown Los Angeles is perfect location traffic is tricky but personally well worth it.
My only concern with this hotel is the noise. It was incredible how the traffic 12floors below was SO loud. Aside from that the hotel is beautiful, a golden era in hollywood history seems like time stood still. The staff was extremely busy with multi weddings going on and we can appreciate that. The hotel is so beautiful my fave staff though are the valets classy classy bunch of gents.

Elegance at it's best

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Really enjoyed my stay at the Biltmore. I saw a lot of posts mentioning that the hotel is outdated. That's the beauty of it. It has been left to it's original grandeur. It is absolutely beautiful in the lobby and it has dozens of little sitting areas and bars to have a drink or tea. Although the decor has been kept in the original state it is clean and has comfortable beds and flat screen TV's. If you are looking for the cutting edge in luxury amenities, this may not be the hotel for you, but if you are someone who would love to sit at a beautiful oak bar tucked away in corner and wonder to yourself 'Did Gretta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich and Clark Gable drink a martini when they were here too?' Then you absolutely are in the right place.
