Pro: There weren't any bedbugs and we did have a view of the ocean. Con: The ocean view also had a rooftop to look over to see the view. We found an old ibuprofin tablet o the floor. According to the reviews and the website there was to be a complimentary breakfast of at least muffins, but the next morning the manager said there is no complimentary breakfast and was very rude when conveying this information. They blamed it on the COVID-19. But they had complimentary coffee that everyone was touching the handle and they weren't wearing a mask and gloves when handling the food and money.

I received an email at 9:45 PM the night before arrival. The email stated Holiday Inn Express was transferring my reservation to another hotel. On arrival the second hotel had no reservation in my name and we were told to go to the Holiday Inn Express. The Holiday Inn Express was none to pleased and made a couple of telephone calls. It was tense and nerve wracking to believe I was on Galveston Island not knowing whether I had a room on Mardi Gras weekend or I would be driving back home.

We showed up and they didn't have any king bed rooms left which is what I reserved so we had to stay in a two queen bed. The room was orderly but worn and not very satisfying. Nothing told us beforehand that the pool was closed for the season so we were disappointed in that. The breakfast was great, no complaints there.

We liked staying close to the ocean but traffic was noisy. We enjoyed the free breakfast. Beds were comfortable. Staff was nice and helpful. What we didn’t like is the room smelled very musty, the air conditioner did not seem to work to get the smell out, the toilet seat didn’t fit the toilet.
