    Texas Hotel Travel Guide

Plan your visit to the Lone Star State carefully; Texas encompasses nearly 270,000 square miles!

    Visiting Texas

Texas comprises seven regions. The Panhandle Plains (Texas' northernmost section) is home to Abilene and Lubbock (home of Texas Tech University), as well as beautiful terrain, vast starry skies, and Western heritage. Big Bend Country is Texas' westernmost region and where the Rio Grande River divides the Texas-Mexico border. Don't miss Big Bend National Park, Marfa (with its eclectic arts scene), and El Paso (minutes from Mexico).

The heart of Texas is Hill Country, home to capital city Austin and the University of Texas' main campus; New Braunfels, popular for Comal River tubing; and the historic German-rooted Fredericksburg. Some of the best Texas resorts are in Hill Country. Farther south are the South Texas Plains, home to the border towns of Laredo and Eagle Pass as well as San Antonio. There, enjoy the Alamo, SeaWorld, and the historic River Walk. The Gulf Coast in the southeast features coastal cities including Galveston, Corpus Christi, and South Padre Island, as well as the state's biggest city: Houston. Many tourists stay in hotels in Houston and rent cars to explore the coast. Texas' largest cities have decent public transportation, but do yourself a favor and rent a car. You'll need it!

The Pineywoods and Prairies and Lakes regions in the northeastern quadrant round out Texas. Lufkin and Longview are cities in the lush, green piney woods, and the major cities of Dallas and Fort Worth are in the Prairies and Lakes region. "Big D" and "The Fort" are home to world-class museums, zoos, and botanic gardens. Check out Dallas' Reunion Tower and the Fort Worth stockyards.

I booked a double queen bed and when we got there, they gave us a King bed and said I had never booked a double queen room. I had the email to prove it so it kind of made me mad. They did get us a rollaway, but still, don't guarantee a room only to not have it unavailable. I will think twice before using Travelocity and booking at the Crescent.

    "Europia"
Room was clean, but small for the price. Kept kicking the corners of the bed frame since the couch was so close, barely walking distance between. Got bruises to prove. Lighting was scarce., onoy 2 lamps in the suite. None by one side of the bed so you couldn't see the remote channels. The drapes didn't close all the way, so it was hot in the room and the sun kept hitting our faces at 6AM.....................Restaurants were good, but pricey.

Great place to stay. Much cheaper than the Omni. It is within walking distances to several restaurants and night spots. The motel has been renovated and is a great place to stay. The best part is the Grandview Lounge, on the top floor of the hotel. Day or night, three sides to great views. I would highly recommend.

"Hotel on the beach just to lay your head"
Came in super late from my flight. No one was at the desk to check me in so I had to hunt them down, but I could just glance over the counter and see my key cards and paperwork laid out for al the world to see. Privacy issue yes! Room was outdated. Smelled. The view was amazing!! Beds were mostly clean. It's white everything what do you expect? Shower never got hot and the shower head flew off when the water came on. It's ok to stay at just to lay your head as a tourist. For the name and price you expect some more. Staff in the AM was super great for letting me do a late check out since my flight came in so late.
