Absolutely beautiful hotel and nice and quiet. Our room was very small, but we weren't in there much so it was fine. My only real complaint is the shower. It was elevated which made it difficult to get in and it was very slippery. I was surprised we made it without a fall. The pool area was small, but had great service. I thought the new addition of beach front chairs and service was a very nice touch. I definitely will return.

The Grand Galvez is a stunning historical landmark in the city of Galveston. I recommend spending one visit here. Although, as exquisite as it is, it should improve in the following areas: 1) parking should be made available to guests and not on the street, 2) amenities provided for the amount spent, 3) staff was impolite and unprofessional explaining the no tumbler policy in the pool area, staff showed preferential treatment to certain guests when questioning some in the pool area while not questioning others, 4) the food at the pool bar is not good and is too expensive, and lastly, 5) the buffet should be less expensive on Father’s Day, especially when so much goes to waste due to not many guests buying it.

Property was very clean. All of the staff were exceptionally nice. We have stayed at the Galvez many times. This is the first stay since it was remodeled. The “upgrades” seem cheap. The weird refrigerator didn’t work. Seemed more selected to appear nice than to work well. The shower heads the same. They look “fancy” but appear to ruin the water pressure. Also, one of the reasons we picked the Galvez was the easy access to in and out parking at the garage next door. They apparently don’t own this anymore so the only choice is trying to find parking on the street or 35 dollars a night for someone to valet to a parking lot out back, which would be easier and quicker to just be allowed to self park there. They also added a surprise 25 dollars a day “resort fee” which I guess is for the beach chairs in front of the hotel. Seems like they should just include this price in the total instead of a surprise add on. Also wasn’t a fan of the “collared shirts only” for males at the bar. I understand no beach wear but this was a bit too far. Seems like the bar remained empty.

Excellent stay! We enjoyed the pool with swim up bar. Also the super comfortable bed and updated bathroom. The service from the staff was definitely a five star experience. The only small complaint we would have is the wait to go up the elevator. It seemed there was only one for many guests.
