Redbrick Cottage / 2BDRM / Wash Park / Yard

Summary:
Absolutely incredible Washington Park / Cherry Creek house with wood floors, backyard, and updated features. Spend your Mile High days in comfort and luxury at this 2-Bedroom retreat in the heart of Denver. Walk to Wash Park or make the short drive to LoDo, Cherry Creek, and the Denver Botanic Gardens. This charming one-of-a-kind home is a treat for the senses and the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the Front Range. And you can be in the mountains in less than an hour!

The Space:
This lovingly updated and restored home is located on a leafy residential oasis soaked in history and culture. The home itself welcomes you in with a front porch and lovely grass yard. The main living area is set off by an exposed brick accent wall, with a mounted Smart TV and plenty of seating for all your relaxation needs. Light pours into the front room through a large and whimsical window.

Step into the kitchen to find all-new appliances and everything you will need to whip up a meal or fix a cup of coffee at home. Here is yet another brightly lit space, complete with sleek countertops and bar seating. The dining area is right next to the kitchen and features a chic table with seating for six. Enjoy the accent lights here as well as the dedicated work station. We provide fast WiFi during your stay in case you need to research your perfect skiing location or get some work done.

There are two bedrooms, each with a queen mattress. There is also a full-size sleeper sofa in the basement. We have appointed each bedroom with thoughtful touches to give them their own individual character. The home also has two bathrooms with showers for drama-free morning prep. Room for everyone! The basement is partially finished but fully furnished, with another TV, sleeper sofa and a FORME Life smart fitness mirror.

But enough about the beautiful interior of the home! This is Denver after all – where the sun always seems to shine no matter what the season. Kick back in the hammock, enjoy an al fresco meal or relax on the padded chaise lounges. This is the perfect place to have coffee and breakfast or savor a local microbrew on a warm summer evening.

Everything you’ve heard about The Mile High City is true! The booming metro area has something for every kind of traveler. Soak in Western history at a museum, revel in cutting-edge culture at Meow Wolf, tempt your tastebuds at chic local restaurants and mind-blowing microbreweries, enjoy parks and greenways throughout the city, bag a 14er and a National Park, or ski at world-class resorts. This is the place to explore, play or even – iif you must – get some work done on a business trip or flexcation. We’re looking forward to hosting you!

***Why Choose An STR Over A Hotel?***
Cleanliness, Privacy, and Personal Service. We have augmented our already industry-leading cleaning and disinfecting protocol in order to put our guests at ease. You’ll have your own space to unwind, unplug and escape the news of the day. We have outfitted our cleaning crews with EPA recommended household disinfectants to prevent the spreading of viruses and bacteria. Our listing is professionally managed by Denver-based Highline Management in order to facilitate an excellent guest experience.

Guest Access:
Our guests will have access to the entire home, including the backyard. We offer self check-in for maximum independence and privacy.

Free street parking is readily available in the neighborhood.

The Neighborhood:
Washington Park

You’ll be staying a mere 5-minute walk from the neighborhood’s lovely Washington park, a unique urban oasis popular with Denverites out for a jog or picnic. Dubbed "Wash Park" by locals, the area has a Rockwellian feel with its lush landscaping, awning-covered storefronts and family-friendly atmosphere. Washington Park itself has two lakes, two formal flower gardens, tree-lined paths and seemingly endless expanses of green grass. It's a fitness mecca for locals, and on any given day you're likely to spot people walking their dogs, running, biking, paddle boating or doing yoga.

It's no wonder that it's consistently chosen as Denver's favorite park. Nearby is South Pearl Street, once the site of the city's first trolley car route, now home to art, wine and cocktail bars, specialty shops, boutique and high-end clothing stores and some of Denver's best local dining. Visit Old South Gaylord where you can experience local restaurants, galleries and shops.

What’s within walking distance of the house? Quite a bit, actually! Bend an elbow and get in a game of pool or shuffleboard at the retro, laid-back Candlelight Tavern. You’ll find a taste of Louisiana right here in Wash Park at Lucille’s Creole Cafe, an insanely popular breakfast and brunch spot. Another phenomenal breakfast spot is Denver Biscuit Company – well worth the weekend wait! Prefer to do your own cooking? Safeway and Natural Grocers are right down the street, and there is a Trader Joe’s located a short drive away near City Park, where you will also find the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

If you’re cruising around Downtown, get oriented at Union Station, which has been reimagined as a cultural hub with cafes, art and shopping. From Union Station, Coors Field is within walking distance to the North, while Ball Arena (Nuggets and Avalanche) is to the South. Trendy Larimer Street is also nearby. You can catch a light rail train at Union Station to get to Empower Field at Mile High. The 16th Street Mall offers a free shuttle, which is the best way to get to the Denver Performing Arts Center as well as the State Capitol and Denver Mint.

Further East, it’s a short Uber ride to City Park, Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Botanical Gardens, and other attractions. The new Meow Wolf art experience is also worth checking out, as are the Denver Aquarium and Elitch Gardens. All three are near Empower Field and the REI Flagship store.

Here for a concert? Red Rocks is only 20 minutes away by car. You may want to check out this area regardless of your itinerary – it’s a unique place, and its gateway town of Morrison is charming. Link up an easygoing riverside hike at Lair O’ The Bear or an afternoon paddleboarding or skating in Evergreen to really make a day of it. Further south, you’ll find Roxborough State Park (40 minutes) for more hiking trails. One of Colorado’s main draws is Rocky Mountain National Park, which makes for a great day trip. Drive 1.5 hours through a dramatic canyon for a day of hiking, sightseeing and wildlife viewing.

Depending on your destination, skiing is 1-3 hours away. Locals head to Echo Mountain, Eldora (near Boulder) or Loveland (near Georgetown) for a more low-key experience, but we’re also within a few hours of Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and other snowy delights. There is a Nordic center near Breck if you want to try out cross-country skiing, and the summer months are a great time to rent a kayak to explore Dillon Reservoir.

In short, this is the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the best of Denver and the Rockies! It’s impossible to see everything in one visit, so we look forward to hosting you again after you fall in love with Mile High Life!

Getting Around:
The neighborhood is a pleasant one for strolling, but for exploring the rest of Denver we recommend either having access to a car or utilizing a ride share service. As previously mentioned, you can easily walk to some awesome restaurants and taverns, as well as the park. Many of Denver’s main attractions are a short 15-20 minute drive away, including: Downtown, City Park, Denver Aquarium, Coors Field, Empower Field at Mile High, Ball Arena, Elitch Gardens and dozens of other best-in-class destinations.

You can easily walk Downtown, and the 16th Street Mall offers a free shuttle. If you drive Downtown, we recommend giving yourself some extra time to find parking. City Park and its attractions – Denver Zoo, Museum of Nature & Science, etc. – offer free parking, as does the Denver Botanical Garden on York Street. The Botanical Garden also has a location at Chatfield Farms, a short drive away, which offers festive fun during the fall and winter seasons.

Driving is the best way to explore the mountains, although there are also some ski shuttle companies in the area. We strongly advise AGAINST relying on Lyft and Uber in the mountains! Even if a driver is willing to take you up there, they will NOT come back for you and you will find yourself stranded. That being said, both services are readily available in the Denver Metro area. If you are hanging around town, a combination of walking, ride shares and light rail will probably get you where you need to go.

Other Things to Note:
This is a non-smoking, non-vaping home! We appreciate that some of our guests may wish to indulge in some of Colorado’s herbal offerings, but this is not the place. An odor fee will be added to your reservation if this policy is violated. Thank you in advance for your compliance.

Amenities include self check-in, a fully stocked kitchen, coffee, fast WiFi and Smart TV with streaming services.

We do have neighbors! Please observe the quiet hours of 10 PM to 8 AM, especially in the backyard. If you are enjoying being outside late at night, keep your voices low, don’t play music, and be respectful.

No parties, please.

Please note: If any reservation is extended to 29 days or more, we will bill in advance for an estimated hourly deep clean.

This listing is operated by Highline Management, a team of local experts dedicated to an exceptional guest experience. Professional cleaning, CDC-compliant disinfection and hotel-quality laundry service are just a few distinguishing features of every Highline turnover. Book with confidence!

Honest Review

Overall, this is a nice property, but there are a few quirks that got in the way of our stay. We were unable to access the house through the front door, and we had to climb the fence to access it from the back yard. Even once inside, we were unable to open it from Inside. I was impressed the management company came out the next day, and on a holiday, to fix it. However we had to lug all of our luggage and groceries for a week through the yard to get in the first day, and we also had no escape through the front of the house on our first evening which is a safety hazard. When they came to fix the door, they also cut the grass which needed to be done, so that was appreciated, but those are things that would be nice to be done before checking in. Once that issue was resolved, everything was okay. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable, etc. One disappointing thing was that the listing claimed there was a Peloton bike in the basement and there is not. I would stay here again, knowing what I know, because it was a nice location! But I always appreciate honest reviews myself.

Excellent location, cute house, a few inconveniences

We stayed for 3 days in this house prior to taking our son to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. We wanted to give him additional time to acclimate before starting basic training. The location near Washington Park was ideal. It was easy to get groceries at a nearby Safeway. Access to other activities (Red Rocks Amphitheater, the Rockies baseball stadium, restaurants, etc.) was easy. Kitchen was well-stocked with all the necessary cookware/silverware, plus some extra appliances that most VRBO rentals don't have. As with any older house, there were some oddities. The doors to the main bathroom and one of the upstairs bedrooms wouldn't open all the way because there wasn't enough space. Beds were doubles instead of queens because the bedrooms are so small. The clawfoot tub upstairs made showering a bit precarious, and the downstairs bathroom is a utility room with shower and toilet. Functional, but not very comfortable. It worked for what we needed (and there wasn't much else available in Denver that weekend), but not our best VRBO stay.
