Hotel is a beautifully renovated school where the new has been successfully integrated with the old. The lobby, bar, and dining areas are stylish and to there’s a coherent and clever decorative vibe throughout. My room was clean and had all modern amenities. The problem I ran into was with the front line staff. Upon check-in, it seemed a surprise that I would need a trolly. None were visible. One was secured, and just left in front of me and my 4 bags. After struggling to load it up, the clerk looked up and uttered a surprised, Oh! Do you need help? Too little, too late. Here’s my big complaint. A fire alarm at 10:30 PM shunted all the guests to the front lobby or onto the streets. Not a single representative from the hotel explained what was going on. Firemen traipsing through assured us there was no fire, just smoke from the kitchen that had tripped the alarm. 20 minutes with the flashing lights and pre-recorded voice demanding that we leave the hotel, which everyone ignored. Still, no guidance, reassurance, information from the front line staff. One clerk at the front desk was laser focused on her computer screen, typing away, never looking up, never engaging with the confused patrons for close to 20 minutes. The firemen said we could return to our rooms. Where was the senior management that night?

Pros: Room was spotless, staff was courteous, gym had nice equipment, the restaurant (Teachers Lounge) had great food and drinks too. Trivia on Thursday was especially fun. Cons: Although gym had nice equipment,1/2 peloton’s seat was broken and the only rowing machine didn’t work either). Rates for valet parking overnight were steep ($59/night). Overall vibes of hotel were great. The festive decorations and modernity of it all was great!

I was incredibly disappointed, I checked in but never made it up to my room until 1:00am later that night, only to find that the room was never cleaned. The bathroom had used towels, toilet paper and disgusting used condoms on the floor of the bathroom. It was so late in the night to even attempt to move rooms. Will not be staying there again.
