"Helpful staff, problematic building"
This hotel is a warren of rooms spread over several connected buildings, so room evaluations may vary widely. My room offered a serenade of draining pipes and neighboring showers. It (a single) also had very little room for anything other than a bed. Suitcases beware. However, the bed was very comfortable and the room exceptionally clean. And the staff were exceptionally helpful and nice.

"Great location & price"
Very centrally located, can't beat the price for the location. Cafe downstairs & right next to an Underground stop, so it was very easy to get around. I know that London is expensive & that the better the location, the more you pay. Space is money so the room was tiny, like there wasn't really room to have our luggage on the floor & still be able to walk in the room. And the bed was by far the worst mattress I've ever slept on; there was no padding on top of the springs so it was extremely uncomfortable &, having a bad back, I was in some pain every morning. But really, the location was perfect & the price was the best in the area, so it was worthwhile.

"Great staff and convenient location."
We were fortunate to be offered a free upgrade from a room to a studio apartment in a building 2 blocks away. Although there was a lot of noise from the street from a group of young men (it was a Saturday night during the rugby playoffs) the apartment itself was nice. Walking distance to the train station was a big plus and there were several very good pubs in the neighborhood. Would definitely return.

"My favorite London hotel"
I have been staying at the Henry VIII for about 10 years. It has become my favorite London hotel. I can only afford to stay there when I find a good deal so about half of my visits are spent at other hotels. The management seems to change often, but the staff is always friendly and competent. Rooms and the common areas are always clean, orderly and quiet. The continental breakfast I experienced in February 2010 was superior to any I have ever had in a London hotel. An unusually large selection for continental and all of it very tasty. Much better than previous visits and Henry VIII has always been the pick of the litter for continental breakfast. I am a budget traveler and my requirements are simple. I only need a clean en-suite room, breakfast and a convenient location. I bounce back and forth between Bayswater and Bloomsbury, depending upon where I find the best deal. I prefer Bayswater. Henry VIII is a short walk to two separate tube stations, one on the Central line and the other on the District and Circle lines, so you can always get in and out if a station or a line is closed for some reason. That seems to happen more often with the Central (Red) line than with some of the others. Changing trains when coming to and from Heathrow is a mild inconvenience, which is offset by the shorter journey to the airport. (Bloomsbury is a straight shot from Heathrow to Russell Square, but the distance is a little greater.) The free wi-fi in the rooms is a bonus, but it is so slow that it is useless. By way of compensation, there is free access to a computer in the lobby, which I have not seen in other hotels.

"Comfortable hotel, close to bus & 2 tube stations."
I am familiar with the neighborhood & stayed at this facility before. The room was for 2 persons, but sidewise it was small. The housekeeping took care of the room everyday, including clean towels daily. Asked the front desk if I could receive an email & have it printed, they were very helpful. The daily breakfast was good as well. The free wifi was not the greatest.
