The hotel was close to the tube and local shopping as well as some great pubs. It was under renovations, which we were not informed about so our room smelled of strong paint. The windows are very thin in the rooms and absolutely everything could be heard that was going on outside.

This hotel is just Okay, at least with American standards. However its location, ease of transportation, safety and most importantly its price is unbeatable! If you are a budget traveler that doesn’t plan to stay in room for much and care about minimal cleanliness, good location and price this is a good hotel but nothing more!

Basic but good.
The hotel is huge so the staff are very helpful and guide you as needed. Rooms are basic, as was breakfast. Good food in local surroundings though. Rooms have no air conditioning so be warned…they get very hot, even April was almost unbearable as windows will not open fully. Great location for the tourist staying in London and for theatres, museums etc. but noisy at night. Russell Square is a lovely, green place to sit and relax.

Nice and close to the Russell Square subway stop and a few great coffee shops (check out Burr Co. in the Kimpton hotel). I wouldnt do the breakfast for $25. The family room (3 twin beds) worked out nicely. Clean room, nice bathroom. Prepare for bus loads of kidss - its one of those places...but thats a good sign. Affordable and clean.

The location is great in terms of being able to walk to attractions and tube stations. Light sleepers should be aware that it is right next to a busy, noisy road. The only bedding available is a duvet. If you want a light blanket you are out of luck. This is a no-frills, clean hotel well suited for a short visit to London.

Great Location with Issues
I had read about the noise & how busy it was, so I cannot comment about that. This is the largest hotel in the UK & main customers are large bus tours. There are over 1000 rooms in the large hotel. Checking in is a nightmare & can take up to 45 minutes. Buses come & go from 3 am on, which is sleep disturbing. Happy bus riders are loud regardless of time of day. The hotel is outdated & could use a refresh on the bathroom for sure. Bed was very comfortable. Only major complaint that when housekeeping cleaned the unit, they dried the coffee cups with the same towel used to wipe bathroom counter and desk area (I know because we were in the room & saw it happen). Immediately went out to purchase paper cups for bathroom & morning coffee. There was a tea kettle and the coffee & tea were provided by the hotel, even had milk. This is a great location in Camden with very easy access to the Russell Square tube line (with easy connection from Heathrow). The room was certainly affordable but I did note that we could have stayed in a much smaller boutique hotel for almost the same cost, which we will do next time in London. All sightseeing buses stop in front of hotel for pick-up & drop off, very convenient.
