"Decent, Pricy"
Middle of the road room. Decently clean, and everything functioned well. That being said, it was dated, and small. No real compaints, but understand this is a desirable location in NYC, so $400 a night for something you could get for less than $60 elsewhere is to be expected.

"great value and location, but dont expect 5 star"
Just dont expect a lot and you will be satisfied. This is a value hotel at a good location next to central park on the upper west side. Free wifi that works very well. no breakfast. AC works great, room is roomy, but dated. Everything you expect for the price. so for what its worth its good. staff was great.

"Great neighborhood outweighs disappointing room"
In a nutshell, . . . our room was a nutshell! Really, really small! 7x9 feet! The air conditioner barely worked. The tiny shower has hot/cold valves that were barely functional. The toilet seat was tenuously attached to the toilet bowl. Tiny narrow closet to hold our coats. Voices in the outside hall can be heard easily inside. Very uncomfortable overall. Other than the room, the single narrow elevator was horrendously slow and frustrating to use during busy times of the day. So guests on high floors faced unreasonable delays.

"Not Bad"
I was concerned upon entering b/c of the construction outsude, and the room was small, but it is New York! The bed was comfortable, but could have been more decorative. The best part of breakfast was the waffles! The batter was perfect! We were able to leave our bags after checkout, return and pick them up while we waited for our airport shuttle. Not bad for a short stay.

Hotel Pennsylvania

"Disappointment in the city"
The Hotel Pennsylvania at 401 7th Avenue in New York City was a bit disappointing. It is well located, which is excellent to access all tourist points, restaurants, and shopping. The building itself is old, which makes it interesting. I booked my room over a month prior to arriving, however when I arrived I was given a handicap room. Those rooms are great for people with handicap but very uncomfortable for everyone else. There was no bathtub. The shower booth was an open space. The lighting was minimal, impossible to put make-up on. The beds were uncomfortable and made a loud elephant sound, just by breathing too hard. The desk people were not interested in hearing what I had to say and dismissed me by asking me to return at another time. I have always stayed at the Roosevelt (Now the Pennsylvania) and never had a problem. It might be the new management. I give it a two star rating.
