I recently stayed at the Rio while attending the WPPI conference and unfortunately my experience was disappointing. After a long day of travel, I walked into a room that was clearly not properly cleaned—there were stains on the floors, worn and torn furniture, dirty towels left in the bathroom, and trash still in the trash can. I notified the front desk and housekeeping, but I was not offered any accommodations for the inconvenience and had to wait for the room to be cleaned. After such a long travel day, this was very frustrating. I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and customer service.

I was very disappointed with the room. It looked nothing like the pictures—much smaller, with worn-out furniture and dirty carpeting. The bedding didn’t feel fresh, and the bathroom needed a deep cleaning. On top of that, the room smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, which was impossible to ignore.

Service people at this hotel were consistently rude and inattentive, mostly with related to the food court. It is so frustrating to pay a $50 resort fee plus tax and have no resort amenities as all pools were closed. They say it’s about 10 minutes from the strip, but it took us a good 20 minute walk across dystopian bridges to get to the strip. We did love, however the availability of Penn and Teller. The room was big and relatively clean, but I doubt I’d go back.
