"Convenient location. I'm a local. "
I was out of town working for 6 month's. Was back in town meeting with a realtor. Went on line last minute and found Southern Oaks. Online can be scary. I made the correct decision choosing this hotel. I will recommend to everyone. Thanks again. Oh not to forget pet friendly.

"Nice hotel"
We enjoyed our stay - bed was a bit soft but still comfortable. The A/C was a little loud at first but then quieted down. The digital readout on the A/C and the clock were unreadable but the front desk clerk thanked us for letting him know so they could get it fixed. Overall it was a pretty comfortable room.

"Great place to stay"
The room was as pictured when viewing it online which was spacious & well appointed. The staff was super nice & accomodated every wish. Even the restaurant (Jaybird Restaurant) was a pleasant surprise, their menu was extensive & varied & very good for bkfst & lunch fare, and oh yes, you got complimentary bkfst in the hotel which had muffins, toast, cold cereal, make your own waffles, & fruit. The location was great because it wasn't in the middle of town in all the noise & hubbub, but it was literally 5 minutes to the center of town. As well, if you took the tram tour a shuttle picked you up & took you back to your motel/hotel which was less than 2 minutes. I don't usually write reviews but I couldn't not write how nice this place was, & this was during the end of December when it was so busy.

"Awesome place @ the beach!"
After reading other reviews I was skeptical. However, this place is nice, clean, right at the beach, and I would stay here again. I travel frequently and for this price range I was very, very pleased.

"I was pleasantly surprised."
Despite some bad reviews on this place, I decided to check it out because I liked the website's description and the price. I had to be in the area and did not want to pay twice as much over at the only other hotel in the area. So here goes: As a couple other reviews I'd read pointed out, there were only four cars in the parking lot when I arrived at check-in. Yikes! And the hotel is a bit away from everything. So I was a little scared! BUT that low turnout and off the main World Golf Village property/proximity turned out to be one of the best things about this place! Quiet, secluded, affordable, AND attentive staff - just what I needed. I slept better than I have in months, the other guests I met were friendly, staff was helpful when I needed - and minded to their own business otherwise. Pools were empty but it's January and cold/gloomy so I didn't expect a pool party.

"Christmas Staycation"
Hotel was just "ok". Front desk staff was nice. The bathroom was the worst. Smelled like backed up sewage and was so tiny. The pool was not open and looked terrible which was really bad because even in the middle of December, the weather was perfect for a swim, yet we could not do so. This is Florida after all. the hotel is close to everything. If you're just looking for a place to lay your head and not spend a lot of time inside, this hotel will do the job. But I saw some others on our trip that I will be staying at next time.

Located on the eastern coast of Florida's panhandle, a stay at a resort or one of the hotels near the beach in St. Augustine offers sand, sun, and water sports.
