The property was clean but some of the furnishing/fixtures needed to be redone (small holes in the carpet,faucet leaked water, etc). The overall look of the hotel is quite ornate and grand in styling so I understand that it is difficult to upkeep. Excellent service and the food was delicious.

The hotel is elegant! Staff are very helpful. It is centrally located and very near the places we visited. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

Decent hotel located around the corner from the Civic Center, Lyceum theater and other cultural venues. Other than the meeting and party space, the bar and dining room areas were relatively small. Dinner was outstanding, the quality and service for breakfast was sub par.

Outside appearance of the hotel was underwhelming. Lobby is lovely. Room carpets are stained and dirty. Shower had a slow drain that would back up while water was running and the soap dish in the shower was loose. I was expecting more bang for my buck.

The hotel was beautiful, from the lobby to the rooms, the problem was the noise. By far the worst night sleep or lack there of we’ve ever had. Our room was directly across and above of the trolly station where every time one pulled out it blasted its horn which sounded like a fire truck klaxon. And this happened every 10-15 minutes or so. This went on until late in the night and started bright and early the next morning. For a $300+ a night hotel you’d think they’d have sound proof windows. Unless you’re from New York City or somewhere where this is normal. Sleep is almost impossible. I choose this hotel due to its high quality and close location to a very important meeting my wife had in the morning, we planned on getting a good nights sleep. When you add in the screaming homeless outside you should ask for a high room on the opposite side of the station if you plan on staying here. The staff asked if I’d called to ask for a different room during the night. I shouldn’t have had to. They need soundproofing on the windows and not to shuffle guests whom they stick in the disaster area. We will never return to the hotel, which is a shame because the inside was beautiful. One last thing, their valet sign In front of the hotel is invalid they told me, “It’s an old sign.” Drive around the corner into the garage.

We had two rooms reserved and they were able to get them next to each other without me having to ask. The rooms were very clean and the view was amazing. The Hotel is very conveniently located next to the Gaslamp District and there are several fantastic restaurants, all within a very short walking distance. I think the Westgate has become my new "go to" hotel in San Diego.

Nice hotel very convenient to downtown

Pros: Quality and cleanliness of lobby and rooms. Also location.
Cons: Dining and bar
Location: Civic Center, Horton Plaza, Gaslamp
Surprisingly nice hotel at reasonable rates. Convenient to the San Diego Civic Center and the Gaslamp Quarter. Bar is nearly non existant and breakfast was disappointing.

Full service hotel in great location

Pros: location, balcony, dressing room/vanity area, dining
Cons: access to outlets for charging personal devices, complementary coffee
Location: very short walking distance to many fun restaurants and bars
This hotel has everything you could want in a hotel - great location, gorgeous lobby, piano bar, 24 hour (delicious) room service, pool, spa, and every room has a balcony, free bottles of water, fridge, coffee maker, and a spacious vanity area. The tiniest 3 improvements could make for a truly perfect stay. They should offer free coffee in the lobby in the morning. Especially because they are stingy on the in-room "refills." I stayed three nights and never got a refill on my coffee pods or soaps - the original soap lasted the four days, but the two coffee pods did not. Finally it is very difficult to find an outlet. I had to pull out the (very heavy) marble nightstand and unplug the bedside lamp so I could plug in my phone. It would be nice if they put a little outlet strip on the nightstands in light of this. So other than coffee, restocking the room, and outlets - none of which are major enough to distract a star - this hotel provides a completely 5 star experience.
