Very high price for this kinda resort. Smelly room

Resort credit is useless. 90% of employees don't speak English. Very hard to communicate your needs. Kids club is no good. Meal timings are very limited. AC not working. Overall it's 2 star resort.

Beautiful Resort but Roaches in Room

We had roaches (over 10 killed) in our room and moldy toilet tissue stocked. Front desk did not seem to care or apologize for the issue. Great food and entertainment staff. HORRIBLE CLEANING STAFF!!! Did not regularly stock linens.

Wonderful stay,gorgeous beach

Pros: Everything!
I was worried when I read the numerous negative reviews of this resort. I cannot express how wrong they were ! This resort is beautiful and impeccably maintained. Yes there may be a language barrier some times, but management is all fluent in English and always willing to help. Yes wifi can be sketchy, but that should not be part of a rating. This is paradise, you should be using your phone to capture the beauty of your surroundings, not reading tweets! The food was excellent and plentiful. I am sure negative reviewers are not being fair. Yes some food may be bland , but like a cruise ship, they must cater to all tastes. Go to an ala carte (and extremely expensive) resort if you are a food snob. The sushi was awesome as well as local specialties. Our room was always clean and a pleasant tempreture. The pool and beach never overcrowded and we went during the busiest time! Music and entertainment was great and family friendly. The water park was in a different section so relaxation on the beach was a reality! Wonderful place! We will be back!

Very Nice Resort!

Would've given it an excellent rating overall but had 1 issue. The mini frig in the room was warm the entire time. Called on day two of our stay but no one ever showed up. We were there 5 days. Other than that, great time, very clean property, good quality and variety for buffet food.

Excellent staff, service was five star!

Pros: The service was impeccable. The staff was amazing, they tried very hard to please you at all times. Shows were good at night.
Cons: The food. It was not good. Another bar/disco is needed. We went to the same nightclub every night.
Location: Great location, you can walk to other hotels along the beach.
The Hotel was very pretty. The noise factor is a problem at night if you are near the nightclub, Music plays until 11:30 PM. The entertainment staff works extremely hard eleven hours a day to keep you going. Carlos is amazing. The servers are great. Angel our bartender/waiter was fabulous. The service could not be better. The food is not great! I have had much better at other resorts. The sewage smell is an issue, you can smell it in the elevator and around the fountains. Beach is very natural many palm trees, truly an amazing site. I would not go back to the Riu, because of the food.

Hotel is just OK. Definitely not a Riu Palace!!

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Clean the beaches. Provide staff a little more training for basic Engligh words used in hotels like spoon, fork, towel and seltzer water
Location: Bavaria location and nothing to do.
This hotel should not be marketed as a Riu Palace. We have stayed at other Riu Palaces in different Caribbean countries and this does not meet palace standard. Travelocity and the hotel shows a beautiful beach when there is no such thing. The beach was dirty and horrible. Everyday the stench of sewer greets you as you enter the beach area and there are a lot of debris in the water. Makes one wonder if the Riu hotels are using the beach to dump their sewer. This was supposed to be a fun beach vacation but I spent most of my time around the swimming pool which was not that clean too. A few days our room was not clean until 4PM even though we make sure to leave the room by 11AM each day. We constantly had to request extra rags and towels every day after the room was cleaned. Staff knew very little English..luckily my husband speaks some Spanish so he had to translate all my conversation. Would not recommend or stay at this hotel again. Huge waste of my money!!

Grounds beautiful, not a warm and fuzzy hotel

We've been to Punta Cana many times. Grounds beautiful But hotel managers make a very tense environment waiters in restaurants high strung. The waiters by pool are great especially, Carlos. Rooms strange open concept no privacy. Pool to small Our oceanfront room clean, but when they turn on sprinklers sewer smell. Which is horrific. No elevators in front of building had to walk all the way to back to take elevator and then walk back to the front again. Stupid! The specialty restaurants have very limited menu only four things and strange for ex lasagna with chocolate truffles not good. Very honest employees returned a backpack with 3ipads 2ipods and camera. Overall staff robotic not warm and fuzzy hotels like others would not return.

RIU Palace Bavaro Hotel

Pros: The dining room staff and the bar staff were great cheerful and helpful and friendly. The rooms were not clean when the said they would be.
Cons: Better communication between the House keeping supervisor with the customers(liason when problems exist.
Location: We had the opportunity to visit their other sister resorts. The shops were around the corner from the hotel we stayed at.
We have stayed at this Hotel(RIU Palace Bavaro three times in the last three years. We had serious problem we we checked in to the Hotel for 2nd time in two years rtegarding our reservations we requested in advance an upgraded Junior Suite Superior garden view (overlooking the court yard and we had requested the same rooms area 3051 or 3053 which we had stayed in the prior two years in a row.Reservationist clerk is the same one who wait on us last YEAR and was very rude and not professional so we ask to speak to the desk Manager.. They told us we had not paid for the upgrade of these rooms and also said travel agency are not charging the customers the amount that the hotels charge customers for upgraded rooms in the area we requested, plus he told us their were no vacancies and they were booked up. Have stayed at the RIU Palacies six times and we are RIU Gold Members. We have been RIU Memebers for over for over nine years. We did not think this is the way Members should be treated(no dignity and no respect for members or a customer. I thjink Travelocity need to check in the the upgrader price you use compared to the upgraded price they charge for their rooms. The rest of the hotel staff(Dining room, bar staff were great.
