want to first focus on the positive things and give credit where it’s due . The property is beautiful and clean . The food was consistently a 10/10 especially the Lobster bar . We were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and they made our time in the Magna restaurant unforgettable . Marleny and her crew decorated the section and also made an amazing cake for us. All of the staff were always smiling and greeted us. Hector our bellman was very helpful also. I had an issue the first day of my trip in which my AC was not working and although they switched my room the following day , the ladies in the excellence club check in were not empathetic at all. They did not care and in fact hung up the phone on me multiple times . Even in person they showed no interest in helping. Berenice was the only person there that showed interest. And I appreciate her . I was given a free spa day and Angela at the spa was a 10/10.

The people working here are extremely loud and unprofessional. They congregate and just talk, laugh, and scream instead of doing their job. Management does nothing to stop it. Also. If you don’t tip their every move, they will ignore you. Finally, you don’t get any special treatment if you're in the club vs regular areas. However, if you're in the club, they will do everything possible to milk you for more tips. Vendors on the beach will also bombard you every few minutes and it's even worst in the club area. Room service is less than average and they would leave things out on purpose so you can tip them when they bring it later. Other Excellence properties in Mexico are much better. I would not go back to DR.

I had a great time at Excellence El Carmen! The rooms are large, have plenty of amenities and plugs to charge all your devices. We ate at the delicious restaurants but had room service just as much. Service was quick and patient. I’ll definitely be visiting other Excellence locations after this trip.

Very well maintained property, with a beautiful beach. There was some sargassum on a couple of days, but they were working really hard to remove it. Staff is what makes this property excellent. They were kind, helpful, personable, and genuinely trying their best to make us feel spoiled. From housekeepers to waiters and bartenders and members of the entertainment team, they all did their best to ensure we had a great vacation! A few names worth mentioning are: Hanser (breakfast, set up chez isabelle for us), Estevinsion (who whooo), Robinson, Irenise (housekeeping) and Yari, Carlos, and Miss Kayla from the entertainment team. You are the reason why we will return!

The property is a superb value for an all inclusive stay with all of the perks and amenities. I booked a room with two double bed and upon check in was given a king. The staff quickly got a room with two doubles ready with our check in items and had us upgraded to a different building. There are a lot of daily activities which you can participate in or avoid if you want more quiet and seclusion. Everything was clean and the staff were all amazing. The restaurants were good but not 5star. The Grill was our favorite even though it was only open every other night. The beach area was nice with more than enough umbrellas and beds for everyone so no need to rush out in the am and save a spot like some resorts. The beach had an exorbitant amount of seaweed washing ashore our entire stay (not sure if this was just a seasonal event?) which the staff endlessly tried to tackle but it prevented us from wanting to bathe in the sea. Our vacation was wonderful and would recommend Excellence el Carmen!
