Beautiful Hotel

This hotel is very nice. Super friendly staff and the hotel and grounds were very clean. Bar service at the pool was excellent!! I would highly recommend. I can't wait to plan a return visit!

What are you really looking for?

Pros: Junior suites and facilities
Cons: Food, drinks, service
Barcelo was a beautiful hotel with excellent junior suites and facilities. The food and bar drinks were horrible and the service was haphazard. It is one of the more reasonable priced resorts in the area and you do get what you pay for. If you want a beautiful resort with quantity above quality, this hotel is fine. If your'e looklng for a more refined experience in terms of food and drink, look elsewhere.

Nice all inclusive!

Pros: Good location, good food, nice people.
Cons: Families with small children should be in the same buildings. It was sometimes noisy with all the kids running around at all hours.
Location: Shopping, nightly events, a casino, escape room, bowling and great restaurants are all in walking distance . There is a beautiful golf course too.
Bavaro Palace is very nice. The resort complex is extremely large but it never felt too crowded and was really easy to get reservations for anything. The food and restaurants were excellent and the staff very friendly and hard working. Our partial oceanview room was really comfortable and close to the beach, bars, and central to all activities. We will be back!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace

Cons: The service and food at the restaurants you have to make reservations for is a joke. I wouldn't waste my time.
Location: The Canopy Tour Ziplining is fun we took about an hour ride on a safari type truck up into the mountains. Our guide Bartallo was full of info.
The Hotel is very nice and seems to be very well kept and clean. The beach was very nice as well. If you want a beach chair you better be down there by 7 or 8 in the morning they go fast! The pool is nice they keep it quite clean for as large as it is. The bars all seem to be nice and the bartenders are ok the more you tip the better service they will offer you. Very few of the employees speak English or atlas they act like they don't. If you want to visit any of the restaurants you should plan way in advance and make reservations as soon as you arrive do not wait until the day of or you will not get seats. The Buffet seems to be pretty good food there are two halves one half offers dominican food and the other offers more traditional (American) food. There will be a rain storm that comes through every morning or evening, they tend to only last a few minutes and the sun comes back out. The resort as a whole is very nice I would recommend it.

Mix feelings

I was very very disappointed because I would have assumed an all inclusive luxury hotel would have staff with excellent customer service. It began the first night we arrived when they decided to change our plan and make us pay for extra services. They wanted to “upgrade” us to a room that wasn’t to our standards with the Room we had booked originally. The extra services were included in our package and when we tried to talk to the manager he was acting like he didn’t know what we were saying. I showed the confirmation and everything it included and he still seem to deny the information. He didn’t even bother to act like a manager and accommodate us. As we heard, this issue has happen to others where they complain about the service provided. Then the next day we went to the manager and he was very friendly (Mr. Montero) provided us with CORRECT information. And he was able to explain it all. After that we called to provide one of the services and then we were charged for them. No one could give us what we needed. Guest services was the EXACT same or even worse. Overall this place is a great place to stay but as for giving customer service they are very unprofessional. They definitely would need classes and new management. The restaurants management was better than the hotel management. It was a great experience in that aspect but we probably wouldn’t stay here again and go somewhere else.

Beautiful Property

This property was nothing short of exquisite. Manicured landscaping and beautiful pools surrounded us. There were plenty of peaceful areas to lounge as well as active and vibrant facilities to enjoy. As the resort is very large, our room was a distance to walk to arrive at the pool areas. They do provide a 24 hr shuttle... if you are willing to wait ( usually 10-20 min). Our room was very clean but avarage as far as space and quality of mattress, pillows and linens. The view of the golf course was perfection. A few disappointments were the food & customer service. The buffet food was beautiful but the taste was horrible. It was the same terrible food everyday for 7 days. The evening speciality dinners were much better, but nothing close to fantastic. Very average. We stayed 6 nights and were only allowed 4 speciality restaraunt dinners. The hibachi was not available ANY of the 6 nights, so we opted for sushi. That was a mistake.... the sushi was disgusting. We actually got up and left the restaraunt. customer service was lacking. The staff was very apethetic to any questions or needs. Very little English is spoken. One night a bartender was very drunk and broke a glass of tequila and spilled all over my clothes and shoes. We were told wifi was available for additional fee, only to later find out wifi was free in the casino during the day. Overall the trip was amazing the the facility was beautiful. If we choose the DR again, we will stay at the Barcelo.

Descent resort but will not stay here again....

This is NOT all inclusive. We’ve stayed at many, and we thought for the most part this would be the same , but it wasn’t . You have to pay extra for the small Waterpark, WiFi , bowling, pool (the game), etc. The food was terrible, and getting reservations was next to impossible. There is nothing for teens to really do. Thought they’d be engaged with entertainment like at other resorts, but that’s not the case . A lot of the staff were rude. The positive is that the beach is beautiful.

Enchanting place

Went for a honeymoon trip. Great place, excellent food and service. I loved the beach and my room was with front view of the ocean, I enjoyed the Jacuzzi in the balcony. I loved the attention they gave us, champagne in our room, two t_shirts with honeymoon logos on it, etc.. So many activities to do in the resort. The only thing I did not like was people smoking everywhere, even in front of children, not healthy. I hope in the future they can add a smoking section for people who are smokers. Other than that it's a great place to go.

Everything is fine here except for the food; we got sick and spoke to different people who got food poisoning to. Also tv in room is very difficult to operate !
