Pros: travelocity
Cons: everything was pleasing.
Location: took the trip for speed boat...felt ripped off...paid $120 dollars...boat broke down twice...it was unsafe...it barely went 5mph..had to wait for help
the hotel was very nice...staff were super friendly....rooms were clean and we were pleased with their hospitality.

Not Bad...

The resort was "more of the same" typical all-inclusive packages with only local beer/alcohol, the food while tasty was essentially the same day in, day out for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Variety isn't really "variety" when it consists of the same selections day after day. The Menu is in dire need of updating, especially with regard to more healthier options and providing more international inspired dishes to help offset the repetitive menu selections. My wife and I also found the featured restaurants showcased more or less the same dining options as the buffet -The lone exception being the Hibachi restaurant. The rooms were clean but Felt a bit dated, especially the toilets and bath. We have 2 young kids, ages 9 & 10, who enjoyed the various pools surrounding the property especially the Pirate Cove Water park. The beach however was a major disappointment! The seaweed was prevalent and everywhere! The ocean was not as the photos depicted on the website. We found the staff to be kind & courteous. All in all, it was'nt bad ...but not great either. I would give them a 3.5 rating. We will not be going back. Spend a little extra and go to a true 4-5 star resort.

Unpleasant stay

Pros: The grounds were beautiful and the ability to either go swimming at the beach or pool made it enjoyable.
Cons: Staff could use some education in the hospitality industry. I am bilingual and often heard their complaints.
Location: You can go horse back riding or visit the dolphin island ( for a fee). In addition, you could kayak or use some of the other non-motorized equipment
Stayed with the family in July for 7 days and was disappointed with the treatment of the staff and the upkeep to our room. Every time we returned to our room around 5:30 or later it was not clean and we did not have clean towels to wash up and keep our reservations at the A la Cart restaurants. In addition, they had dress codes which we were not aware of when we booked our reservation via Travelocity. They also had an abundance of flies all over the buffet food as well as unsupervised children touching the food. The 24 hour restaurant " Sticker's" was the absolute worse. Honestly, that place had more flies inside than outside and the staff seemed unfazed by our complaints. I now see why, hotel management Javier seems to believe this is acceptable due to the tropics... UNACCEPTABLE!!

overall great experience

We were a party of six and had a very nice time. we were put in the furthest bldg but needed the walk to burn off all the food. Overall great experience! my only complaints would be that our bathroom had broken dispensers and shower leaked and housekeeping never cleaned our coffee pot. Other than that food, service and facilities were wonderful. Plentiful help always willing to accommodate.

The hotel was nice.

Cons: Making dinner reservations and being accommodated to eat at the restaurants.
Location: Stayed on the hotel site the entire time. Very close to the hotel.
The hotel was nice. However, it was very difficult to impossible to get dinner reservations. They do not allow to call before your stay to make a reservation. The food was plentiful but mediocre.

Barcelo Palace

Nice hotel,clean close to beach lots of free activities. Definitely suggest staying at Bavaro palace vs Bavaro beach. The beach is nice but further away. You have to ride a trolley to every where, and to get premium upgrade,almost everything is included and well worth the additional cost!!

Beautiful resort friendly staff

Amazing place.I loved my stayingzThe staff is very friendly always smiling.Good food.I recommend the drinks and cocktails at the casino bar or at the theatre.The ones at the poolside are good too but much lite.

Beautiful hotel but terrible service

Hotel had beautiful oceanfront rooms unfortunately, the service and food was awful. Many spring breakers running crazy ...one young high school girl got so drunk she threw up in the main pool and the staff did nothing to clean it up and did not evacuated

Bacelo excellent family vaca

Pros: Very clean, friendly staff, nice size rooms, good dining options, nice beach, nice pools.
Cons: Dinner options at earlier times for families. Free wifi for everyone at least a few hours a day. Eggs Benedict for breakfast!
Location: Private and secluded from other hotels, no reason to leave resort as there is plenty to do.
Family of 5, booked on travelocity. Nice family 2 bedroom suite room with king, two full/miniqueen beds, and single bed, two balconies one with hot tub, 25 steps away from kid water park, pool bar, and just a short walk to dining areas, beach, big pools with swim up bars, nice clean beach with free water activities with kayaks, paddleboards and sailboats. Did a few offsite activities arranged at hotel like deep sea fishing and horseback riding on the beach that were reasonable and fun.
