Bay Club Hotel & Marina - San Diego Hotels

Bay Club Hotel & Marina

"Very nice place to stay along the bay"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Bay Club Hotel and Marina. We stayed here on our 9 day road trip up the California coast and we both agreed that out of all the hotels we stayed in, this one was our favorite. The room was very clean and had a great light and airy feel to it. The staff was also very friendly. The location was also very good-close enough to all the attractions but not in the busy hustle and bustle so you get the best of both worlds. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

The Pearl Hotel

"good value, but tragically hip"
In it's desperate attempt to be hip, The Pearl forgets some of the standard sophistication generally seen in hotels of all quality today. My first biggest disappointment was the lack of soap in the room for my full 5-day stay. Soap is an amenity that even the scummiest of places provide, but here the staff suggested I go buy my own since they were out. Secondly, the restaurant staff at the hotel were clueless and clearly untrained in how to seat people. I was told I could not be sat at a two-top being just a single, which is unheard of; then the hostess told me to stand at the host station and wait for a bar stool while other customers swooped into empty stools directly at the bar. I ended up leaving. Finally, the rooms are nice, but there are some things that have not been updated since the mid-century, such as the shower, plumbing system as a whole, and the a/c (whose loudness is great for drowning out the annoying event noise- movie night is a great idea, but they clearly are not equipped to host so many people and allow people to sit directly against guest room walls, another tribute to the flaky staff).

"NIce clean comfortable room"
A comfortable, clean, recently updated room with bed, couch, mini-fridge, tv. Air conditioner helped keep down the noise from the busy street. Close to the marina and coffee shops. No frills, just the basics, but we had a good experience!

"Close to the peir"
We loved our view looking over the peir! The hotel staff was awesome! Unfortunately, the breakfast was horrible. Not the hotels fault but our room filled with the smell of marijuana daily from the room next to us. When I reported it to the front desk I was told it's legal in California.

Wish they hadn't started charging a "resort fee" as there is no concrete reason to justify it in my opinion. (No frills, no newspaper, no free breakfast or drinks. Modest room, very basic lobby, small grounds). Also think there should not be a parking fee.

"Just a hotel for the night."
Booked on price and location, upon arriving the entrance leads to a underground garage with not much parking space. The staff is located on the street level behind a window, thought to ourselves, uhoh. Our room was on the fourth floor, the hotel is shaped as a horseshoe, so we had to walk on a wooden balcony to the door of the room, I really wanted not to like this place, but on entering the room everything was clean and neat. Modern facilities, well taken care of, slept like a baby with minor street noise. Left early so didn't get a chance to eat the included breakfast, but was just coffee and rolls anyway. It served the purpose but I wouldn't stay for more than a night or two, just a place to sleep and move on.

Point Loma Hotel & Travel Guide

Point Loma, a broad peninsula located in San Diego, California, reaches out to the Pacific Ocean on one side and San Diego Bay on the other. The coastal side features gorgeous scenery, rocky outcroppings, and a relaxing beach— Ocean Beach— above its northern end; the eastern side offers shops and great city views. Stay in one of the Point Loma motels, where you can relax and enjoy the salty ocean breeze.

    Visiting Point Loma

Once you touch down at San Diego International Airport (SAN), you'll need to take a combination of three buses to reach Point Loma, although it's only 6 miles away. Get on the 923 in front of either Terminal 1 or 2, and ride to the intersection of Nimitz Boulevard and Rosecrans Street. Here, switch to the 28 line, ride three stops south, and get on the 84, which will take you to the gate leading into the peninsula's tip. For a quicker transit experience, take a cab (or a water taxi!), or reserve one of the vehicles at the rental car center. Settle in at one of the Point Loma hotels, and head down to Cabrillo National Monument, which honors Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the first European explorer to reach the West Coast back in 1542. Cabrillo is also a great place for tide-pooling, with plenty of ways to explore these fascinating mini-ecosystems. Next, hop into Point Loma rental cars, and drive east into the city to get up close and personal with animals at the San Diego Zoo. Need a place to crash after a busy day taking selfies with the pandas? Travelocity will help you get set up in a great San Diego CA hotel at the lowest prices around.
