I have made quite a few business trips to London. I had the pleasure of staying at several of London’s best known high end hotels. Yet, here I am rating Rubens at the Palace above the excellent hotels (e.g. Savoy, Browns among them). What distinguishes Rubens from the best known high end hotels? The staff. This includes everyone; the concierge staff, the staff in their New York Bar, the staff in the Grill, the staff at the front desk, the housekeeping staff and the staff who man the front door. In addition to recommending restaurants, the concierge staff helped us interact with our airline who had lost a bag on our flight from JFK to Heathrow. They tempered our optimism at the “lies” we were hearing from the airline with years of experience. The staff in the New York Bar learned our names almost immediately and talked to us about our “bag problem”. The staff in the Grill assured us that we would not feel out of place despite my wearing the clothes I had flown in. The Front Desk people and the front door people similarly knew our names and would greet us by same when we were in the lobby or leaving/entering the hotel. A power outage in our room was swiftly rectified by calling housekeeping. At Rubens the front desk staff would say hello even when we were just walking to the front door to go for a walk. The front door door staff would inquire about where we were going and on our return would ask how our day day went. In short, it was like having friends rather than staff.

What a terrific hotel!

Pros: The room was large & great. The location couldn't have been better. The staff was friendly & very helpful save the woman taking room service orders.
Cons: The room service staff wasn't so helpful and certainly wasn't guest friendly if you were ordering late at night.
Location: Perfect local. Buckingham Palace is literally across the street. Very near tube station, London city tour stops & good restaurants for a quick bite.
We had a lovely stay at The Rubens At The Palace. The location first of all was ideal for getting around London and the front desk staff, the concierge and the doorman couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The room was wonderful and perfect for my daughter and granddaughter and myself. It was large enough for three people and had very comfortable beds. The only flaw came when trying to order a pizza at midnight for my granddaughter whose jet lag left her hungry at a late hour. Since we had been told there was 24 hour room service available we didn't think there would be a problem ordering then. The woman in the kitchen who answered was obviously put out that we wanted to order at that late hour and said she would call back to confirm our order could even be filled. She didn't, so I called the kitchen again 3 times, and 3 times she picked up the phone, heard my voice, and hung up. Subsequently, I called the front desk for help and the young man there was terribly apologetic and took care of the order and in short order we had a pizza at our door. I would certainly highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay there again on my next trip. It is a great hotel and a fabulous value!

Great centrally located Hotel. Wonderful stay!

Pros: Easy access. Very friendly helpful staff. Clean spacious rooms.
Cons: There is nothing we did not like. Everything is good.
Location: Walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, London tour stops, Victoria Station, and Thames.

Would definitely go back

Pros: Room size
Cons: To be honest, nothing.
The location could not have been better. You are blocks away from the Victoria station, that can take you anywhere in the city, restaurants, pubs and the palace. The hotel and our room were very clean. The staff was outstanding. This hotel was exactly what I wanted in an English hotel. My only complaint was the size of the room, but it is in the middle of a major city. Overall, I could not have been happier.

Passport

Pros: Nice Room Good Food well Positioned
Cons: The Plumbing was not so perfect
Location: Passport Office near plus close to all Entertainment areas
I used to visit Eccleston Square in the 90s where we had an office . I stayed in the Rubens then and when I needed to book a Hotel near to the Passport Office I chose the Rubins
