Good location. On each of the last 2 days our room key cards failed to work, as did the room air conditioning. This was easily corrected by visiting the front desk.

The property is in a great location..Hyde Park, The Tube station and a couple of restaurants. However, the room and bathroom were way too small. It was like walking into cell block D at your local prison. The front desk personnel and the concierge station, especially Mario were outstanding.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel is in a good location that is within walking distance of the tubes. The rooms are outdated with uncomfortable beds. There is no place to put your luggage or unpack. The walls are thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing.

Hotel is in a great location, across from Hyde Park and right on bus lines as well as tour buses. Rooms are small and my parents who are older had a hard time getting in and out of bathtub/shower. I give the breakfast a very low rating. Person working made to order egg counter could not handle orders and the buffet food was cold. A large part of buffet was also Indian food which some in our group did not prefer.

This review is based in our stay, in that we don't spend that much time in our room. We enjoyed our stay, but here are a few recommendations...the lighting is not good and most women will find it hard to see when applying makeup. The toilets had to be flushed 3-4 times with each single use. This is probably due to age of building and plumbing etc.

More like a three-star

There wasn't anything catastrophic about my stay at the Corus Hotel, but overall it was an underwhelming experience for the four-star rating and price. The place just feels old; it could use some work to update nearly everything about it. The rooms are pretty small, even by London standards. At least one (and sometimes two) of the three elevators were broken the entire week I was there; the buttons to summon them are themselves hit-and-miss. The location is OK... walking distance to Paddington, and Hyde Park right across the street, but otherwise you're hopping on the tube to get anywhere. No complaints about the staff, but few of the issues were anything they could help with. The breakfast and WiFi were quite good as well. If you're staying at this hotel, you could do worse, but you could also do better.

Great hotel

We stayed at the Corus Hotel May 27 and 28. It is easy to find across from Hyde Park. The Lancaster Gate tube stop and bus 94 and 185 are a block away. The Heathrow express to Paddington Station is a 12 pound taxi or easy walk. The hotel has a very friendly staff and the concierge people give great advice on how to get places. The hotel was spotless and our room very comfortable with excellent air conditioning. It has three superfast elevators, a real plus in London. Highly recommend.

Disappointing

I know London very well, having lived there in the eighties, and I really had high hopes for this hotel. It is in a great location, just across the road from Hyde Park and steps from Lancaster Gate tube station. However, the rooms were just horrible. The decor is dated and worn. The photos of the rooms were taken very "creatively!" They must think that slapping a flat screen TV on the wall constitutes updating the room but it doesn't. The bar and restaurant are completely devoid of character and the staff are rude. I had invited a friend to meet me there for dinner and I was so embarrassed by the way she was treated by the barstaff. No manager was available to discuss this.Thankfully, there are a few very nice (if pricey) restaurants nearby. If all you're looking for is a hotel near a tube station for convenience, then this is OK. I will not waste my money here again. London really has much more to offer than this overpriced, impersonal hotel.
