I recently stayed at the Rio while attending the WPPI conference and unfortunately my experience was disappointing. After a long day of travel, I walked into a room that was clearly not properly cleaned—there were stains on the floors, worn and torn furniture, dirty towels left in the bathroom, and trash still in the trash can. I notified the front desk and housekeeping, but I was not offered any accommodations for the inconvenience and had to wait for the room to be cleaned. After such a long travel day, this was very frustrating. I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and customer service.

The property is so tired and dated and the staff are non-existent. The friendly and positive pre-check in emails suggested that the process was going to be smooth but there was no direction and no staff around to ask. The rooms are big but don’t look like they’ve been touched in 30 years and whilst they are relatively clean, the whole place is just sad and depressing! Thankfully we were only there for one night before flying home but will definitely avoid in the future.
