How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Kansas City

If you like the thought of spending more time at the airport bar and less time moving through security on your way to Kansas City, just follow these helpful tips:

  • Keep your passport and boarding pass within easy reach. They'll be the first things you'll be instructed to produce by security personnel.
  • Bear in mind that belts with metal buckles can set off the body scanner's alarms. If you have one on, you may be instructed to step back and take it off before moving on.
  • Ensure your laptop, phone and other electronic devices are easy to reach. These items need to be sent through the X-ray machine in separate tubs.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to put all creams, liquids and gels in a separate bin for inspection. Make sure they're all in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Give some thought to the type of footwear you want to travel in. Slippers are great because they're a piece of cake to step out of when you're at the security checkpoint. Try wearing a pair on your next journey!
  • Pocketknives and corkscrews are not allowed on board the aircraft. Put them in your checked luggage to avoid leaving them at the security checkpoint.
