It took way longer than told for our room to be ready, and eventually, we went up to ask and they gave us our room information for check in. The pool was great. Dinner was limited and my niece didnt see anything for her to eat so she didnt. The room was comfy and cozy.

Air conditioning did not work in sitting area! Carpet so dirty we wore our shoes the entire time! Bed was broken and slept with head going down hill!!! Could not understand why I keep waking up all night but when I woke realized I was sleeping upside down! Air conditioner in bedroom was loud and kept going on and off all night ! All in all a terrible experience! Wanted a good night sleep away from interstate noice! Property had been severely neglected!

The property is beautiful with wonderful spa offerings. We enjoyed our stay. The only thing we would recommend is much quicker food service in the dining room.

The room was spacious and perfect for the two of us. Front desk staff was quick to fix any issue that came up. The indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs are fantastic. Property is older and not as crisp and fresh as one may want. Walls are super thin and carpets could use a good deep cleaning. Restaurant serves great food but wait staff isn't the best.

Very historical and pleasant place to stay. I would come back just ask for a room away from the ice machine or elevator. Overall a clean and nice place.

Have visited/stayed here before. Rooms updated since my last stay. Still historic and inviting.

The overall idea of the property is great. I think they are struggling to make it all mesh together. The restaurant is less then pleasing and the food I would not even call sub-par, the indoor pool/hot tub is nice especially when open til midnight however is not monitored and I think after a certain hour non hotel guests are sneaking in. The rooms are quite nice, but doors are beyond thin that you hear everything and everyone. When coming to a Hotel/Spa of this pricing you would hope that if children were brought that they would know how to act. (there was a bunch of unattended children that made certain areas un-pleasing to say the least) The best part however of the entire place is hands down the Spa- the best staff are clearly down here. We had the best time down there, there are alot of services offered and then you have the treat of enjoying the Grotto as well (steam shower, HOT tub (jets work in this one), sauna, cold plunge shower, sugar scrubs, etc) I would rate the Spa a 10 of 10.. just wish the rest of the hotel met up to the standards the Spa clearly upholds.

Looks cool from afar...but the place is outdated with little to no new world charm...not even a soda machine

Nice Historic property. Dog friendly too!

Pros: the old world charm, ghost tour is a must.
Cons: could be cleaner and would possibly thrive with better trained staff and attention to details.
Location: not much real close but the grounds are nice and the outdoor pool in summer, neat indoor pool too.
The ghost tour was fun and a nice history lesson too. It is a nice, different place to stay for a night or two. close to KC

Wedding nightmare

We spent our wedding night here. The bed smelled of turkey gravy and my husband got diarrhea from the burger he ate at the 88 restaurant.
