Palm Springs is a resort city in the desert of Southern California, and it's the perfect place for a little relaxation—or a lot! It was made famous in the 1950s as the preferred vacation spot for Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack. It declined during the '70s, but has made a resurgence in recent years to once again become one of California's top vacation destinations. Hotels near Cabazon Outlets, along Interstate 10, are close enough to Palm Springs for you to enjoy the resort but far enough into the desert so that you can embrace the natural beauty found there.
The town of Cabazon is 19 miles west of Palm Springs and is a tourist destination in its own right. Cabazon is famous for its kitschy roadside dinosaur sculptures that kids will go crazy for. There's also plenty of cheap shopping to be done in the Cabazon Outlets, which line the I-10. To wake up in the morning next to Dinny and Mr. Rex (the dinosaurs), stay in one of the hotels by Cabazon Outlets.
If you want to relax by the pool, look for a Palm Springs hotel that is also a resort—there are plenty to choose from! When you're not taking it easy, there are some good entertainment options around town. The number-one attraction is the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which takes you to the top of Mount San Jacinto, where you'll have amazing views, especially at night, plus several hiking trails to follow. Kids will love the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, 16 miles southeast of town, home to desert animals from North America and Africa, as well as a couple rides.
