"Great inexpensive clean place near transport."
We found the Morris Guest house on-line for an unbelievable price, and while a shared bath would not be our first choice, we could not argue with the ratings or the price. So we took a chance, and were very pleased we did. You get a bed, an end table, a lamp and a closet, just enough to sleep and see NYC without blowing the budget. Also, there is a kitchen if you frequent the local Hispanic Delis and want to do some cooking. If it rains or you get lazy, there is a barely used TV room. We've stayed at lots of hotels/motels that did not measure up to the cleanliness standards of the Morris Guest House. And as for the shared bath, it presented a minor inconvenience; however, there are actually two (2) bathrooms, and thus when one is occupied, you might be able to use the other, so it wasn't so bad. Parking was also a worry; however, the neighborhood in which the Morris Guest House is located has open parking except for Monday or Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 10 AM, on which days the City cleans that side of the street. So since we stayed over the weekend, with a few trips around the neighborhood, we found free parking every night. In fact, we could have stayed in our original parking place from our arrival on Friday night till Tuesday morning at 8:30, while using local transport. However, since parking in NYC on weekends is fairly easy, we used our rent-a-car to get around. If you can't find a space, there is a parking lot around the corner, 24 hours for $10.
