Staff at check in were delightful. They were slammed, but attentive and kind to us. Check Our was another story. The lobby’s as empty, but the gal was Condescending and dismissive of all our questions. Disappointing. To say the least. I was very surprised by how small the room was in addition to lack of storage. I would not recommend for a family of 4-my kids are 8 and 10.

Great location, free breakfast

Pros: Friendly staff, great location, clean rooms, free breakfast
Cons: Housekeeping staff could be quieter in the halls. Water pressure/temperature was not great. A/C kept running after turning off thermostat
Location: Centrally located. Everything is only blocks away.
The Hampton Inn Manhattan/Times Square South is a good budget choice for your NYC stay. The good: The staff is friendly and the location is great. The rooms were clean. They offer free breakfast and free coffee all day. No trouble getting clean towels even though we didn't utilize the daily housekeeping. The not so great: the hotel was very crowded. There was always a line to get into the elevator. Could only get the complimentary breakfast once because it was always too crowded. The water pressure and the water temperature in the shower was iffy. The housekeeping staff talked very loudly in the small hallways. Their personal conversation woke us up at 8 am on Christmas morning. The rooms are very small for a family of 4. Not enough room for our 4 suitcases.

This is a review we will definitely bring to the housekeeping managers attention so that we can revisit hallway etiquette with the staff. We do apologize as our elevators to come with a bit of a wait during peak times of the hotel especially since we stay at a 100% occupancy. Even though the hotel has a tight space by the elevator exit, the room is neat and clean. The breakfast menu was good. I like there is an exhaust fan in the bathroom.

Convenient location

Cons: The view from the room was of the building next door, though I doubt the hotel has much control over that.
Location: Times Square, Circle Line Cruise pier, High Line, Broadway
The hotel was within walking distance of many of the places we wanted to go, and close to the subway and Port Authority for those that weren't nearby. It had a large complementary breakfast with some variety each day. The staff was very helpful.

Hotel Condition

Pros: Location
Cons: Add eating area. Make breakfast bags and announce it to people so they can take the bag instead of standing in line.
Location: Lots of eateries, Times Square close by.
There are 32 stories in this hotel with about 6 rooms on each level (total of 150-180 rooms). There are two elevators in this hotel which were always full and had a long wait as they didn't accommodate all the guests. The breakfast room was very overcrowded and people were taking two or more of each fruit. The breakfast food was great but the seating area housed about 60-75 and did not accommodate all the guests. Many people had to take their breakfasts and take the elevator upstairs (did I mention the long wait)? Our room carpet was loose at the seams and made me trip twice.

Continental breakfast

Pros: It was truly everything we expected from viewing the website. An added bonus was that the outside was decorated so nicely for the fall!!
Cons: I would have liked a refrigerator, as I requested one, and I didn't feel housekeeping supplied us with enough toweling.
Location: Located close to Times Square, and tons of shopping and eating. We also found a cute flea market in Hell's Kitchen, right down the street.
This was one of very few hotels that offered a continental breakfast. We were very satisfied with the availability of food, the variety, the freshness, and the space for dining. When staying in New York City, we felt a continental breakfast was a definite must for us, and the Hampton certainly delivered.

Not what it seems

Everything was nice until I got there and the King bed room I already paid for wasn't available , I had to stay in a full bed room which was extremely tiny ,there was used soap in the bathroom , over and hour wait to get my car from valet when I called 30 mins. Prior and on top everything they charged my card $132 extra and keep saying they have no record of it . The girls at the front desk are extremely rude , one hung up in my ear after I asked for a manager . Worst hotel experience ever !!!! will not be coming back and won't recommended this hotel to anyone

Great location

Location: Times Square, Hell's Kitchen, Broadway are all within walking distance, and the subway is about 4 blocks away. This is a great location.
We were within walking distance of Times Square. Lots of sights to see, but we weren't kept awake by outside noise. Our room was comfortable. The bathroom could use a little more counter space, but otherwise was fine. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good; better than we'd expected. Lots of choices and a little different entrée each day. The hotel was clean, and the employees were helpful and friendly.

Disappointed with the hotel!

Pros: Staff was friendly
Cons: Elevator delays/thermostat in room was either freezing cold or just plain hot.
Location: Location was convenient to walk to Penn Station as well as to Times Square.
We have been to NYC many times, and we have stayed in numerous hotels. This Hampton was a last minute booking, so we didn't have time to research very much. The room itself was SUPER small, even by NYC standards, but at least the mattress was very comfortable. There was a breakfast included with the stay, but it wasn't much to write home about. The biggest frustration about this hotel was simple...there are two elevators for the entire hotel. We waited about 20 minutes for the elevator to arrive to go to breakfast in the mornings, and when I made the mistake of going to the basement to the snack/vending machine....I was literally there almost 30 minutes waiting for the elevator!
