Cute

Cute property. We stayed just a couple nights, but its in a good location. We could walk to restaurants and the ice cream place. It s int Freedom Trail so we walked the trail some and it was interesting learning for my kids.. Highly recommended!

Good location

Four of us stayed for 3 nights. The home is cute and in a great location. Sleeping and visiting were difficult. The beds were very uncomfortable and there’s no way to make the rooms dark. The outdoor area was great and roomier than inside but it was too cold to stay outdoors.

Family getaway

My husband and I just stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 daughters 5 & 15, we LOVED the location!! So easy to walk into town!! Would definitely recommend and stay here again!!!

Well...

House was nice and clean on the surface. The moment we opened the kitchen cupboards, it started to smell strongly of mold. The same thing happened after we turned on the air conditioning. The washing machine was moldy, the light in one of the rooms didn't work.After I complained, the property manager suggested that I change the lightbulbs myself, if I had one, and wash the washing machine with vinegar.After I sent photos of the washing machine to the property manager, there was simply no response.The light problem was easily solved - all the lightbulbs were easily unscrewed, and after screwing them back in everything worked.The electric ignition on the grill in the back yard didn't work, and there wasn't a single lighter or match to be found in the house.There was absolutely no adequate seating in the kitchen: there was only a normal-high chair on the high table top.The location was OK on the one hand, you could quickly get to the old town and museums, even on foot. On the other hand, there is a McDonalds with a 24-hour drive thru right next door and a few meters away are railway tracks; long trains constantly pass through at night, which are also very audible.I would not recommend anyone to rent this house.

Short trip for lights, plus refresh of area

The property is very nice on inside as described. When we first drove by it was questionable. Neighboorhood looked sketchy. But i do not believe it was. We walkef the probable 4 blocks to the tram stop. It was quiet at nights. Beds very comfortable. The only negative was coffeeee single cup maker did not work. But McDonalds is next door so the only coffee drinker did fine. We will use again if possible and recomend.

Adorable house

Such a cute house. Had everything we needed. Was so close to everything we wanted to do. The best sleep I’ve had in a long time. Forgot to see what manufacturer it was. Made breakfast Saturday and ate outside in the sweet backyard. My 84yo mother loved it and the weekend was about her. She had some difficulty on front steps and little incline to front door but made it beautifully. I was a bit taken aback about the front door swinging out. Gave me a bit of a hard time getting in initially because I kept trying to push door in (like a normal door).

Double rental

Overall this VRBO lived up to our expectations. It was clean, cute, conveniently located for walking to downtown. The only thing we would mention is that they also rent a studio above as a VRBO. That was a little annoying as you could hear everything above the master we were in including heavy stomping feet, conversations, a dog & things being dropped on the floor which kept us up due to upstairs guests staying up late. Not noise proof at all and quite annoying. We werent told about upstairs rental. If that is rented at same time, you have to "share" on site amenities and porch area kinda awkward. Wish we were told about the other rental on site. Would definitely disclose that to future guests.

Nice clean place with a few quirks...

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, and as far as toiletries and laundry it was well-stocked. We were a bit suprised to find that the kitchen was pretty bare, there wasn't even salt and pepper, which was a bit disappointing comared to other VRBOs we've stayed in. The location is great. There is an affordable moped rental company just down the street, and you can walk to downtown St. Augustine relatively easily. You should also realize that, to get upstairs, the upstairs guests have to walk past the large glass doors which look into the lower level. We had to keep the shades drawn at all times. We also never used the backyard due to it being a shared space with the upstairs- it just felt a bit awkward. It would be great if you wanted to plan with a friend and they rented the upstais while you rented the lower half. It was a bit loud at night. I sleep heavily and was woken up more than once, but I also come from a more rural area, so you may be able to take that with a grain of salt. Ultimately, I feel like this was a good value, but on my next visit to St. Augustine, I'll spend up a little more to gain privacy.

Mt Dew House

Loved the way it was laid out. Daughter and husband came for four days and it worked out we had the back bedroom. In walking distance to lot’s eating places and activities. You could hear people upstairs walking but didn’t bother us. We travel with a noise machine and that’s great at night can’t hear footsteps.

Love the outdoor area

Nice property great location. Love the outdoor area. Very clean. Only issue is the rental upstairs is very loud above master room. Need to put the option to rent whole house on listing. I personally would have rented both

Close to Many Attractions

The house was just the right size for two friends, traveling together. This cottage was part of collection of homes in the historically African American residential community. Throughout the city of St. Augustine, the multi-cultural history is such a wonderful experience. The cottage is located on a walkable location, but certainly some guests may need a car. Close to the Fountain of Youth and the Ridley’s Believe it or Not location. The cottage has two bathrooms, one that had a smallish shower, the other had a large walk in shower, off the main/ king size bedroom. The smaller bathroom had a slight problem with the flush mechanism. Text to the VaCasa service line resulted in multiple texts back and forth. I was able to fix the flush mechanism good enough to get through rest of our stay, but the local manager did not reach out to us. The kitchen was nice, with granite counter tops. The microwave above the stove did not work. There was a small counter top one, which worked for our needs. We ate out @ each meal, but the cottage would benefit from a larger working microwave. The back courtyard looks very nice, but we didn’t use any of the amenities. There was a TV and nice looking grill and outdoor bar with bar top chairs. The other component of this rental is there is another rental above the main bedroom. It is slightly confusing for renters who are upstairs and through the back gate. On two occasions, renters for the upstairs apartment tried our front door.

The cottage was very nice. Loved the layout but the previous reviews are correct. Dogs barked upstairs when the owner went out, although she did keep apologizing. Heavy footsteps above. The floors could have been cleaner. The dishwasher did not work. Some outlets did not work and I realize this is an older home. Traffic noise.

Cozy & Cute

The house was very cozy & cute. The front bedroom had a comfy bed. The master bedroom & bathroom were very spacious & nice, but if the upper "apartment" is rented out you will hear EVERYTHING. It is directly over the master. We stayed 4 nights & there were 4 different people that stayed there. Vacasa allows their employees to rent their properties for half price, so they may stay one night. We only slept in the master 2 nights because of the noise. The house was in a good location to downtown. The street is busy because people cut through. We would stay here again if we rented the upper apartment too.
