Stroll 15 minutes along the Matanzas River to Castillo de San Marcos, a historic fortress dating back to the 17th century.

When you’re ready for some time by the surf, travel 2 miles to Anastasia State Park or 5 miles to Vilano Beach.

Excellent experience

We had a wonderful stay. The accommodations were quaint and more than we expected. Couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience, we had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be more towels/wash clothes. Having coffee and hot chocolate available was an added bonus with the cold weather. Within walking distance to everything we wanted to do in town.

The microwave takes up the dining table so it is unusable. We anticipated utilizing the table. The air/heat units have to match the outside setting or it creates an error so it was a little stuffy. The bed was small. The room was clean, the restaurant decent, and proximity was good. Communication was good. Check in was delayed but was not an issue for us.

The Purple House is conveniently located near all the things we like to do in St Augustine. It is well designed and decorated. I was a bit concerned for the proximity to the restaurant in front but we never heard a peep from them and slept well.
