Teeny, tiny room

Location was great for walking to things, but the front of the hotel was on a dark street with scaffolding around it. Steep stairs into the building, no handicap entrance. The building was old and redone, but scuffed and scratched.

Good price, fine location

Yes the rooms are small... But this is NYC! It's just a few blocks from the red and blue lines, so easy access to most of the subway system. It was overall a great deal for Manhatten.

Location is Off the beaten bath but a good value

Pros: Clean, quite, comfortable room. Great staff.
Location: About 15 minute walk to Macy's, Madison Square Garden and dynamic midtown Manhattan.
I live in the NYC area and I stayed at the Quality Inn for 1 night because I was going to a concert at Madison Square Garden and decided it would be better to stay in midtown since I had to be back the next morning for work. I need a decent night sleep to perform my very physical job and I would not have gotten that if I had gone back home and traveled again to midtown the next morning. Overall, I was satisfied and it was the right decision. The location is not the best because it is several blocks away from the garden, near the very busy entrance to Lincoln Tunnel. Aside from that, the room was clean and private. The staff was overall great and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and I got the sleep I needed. They also offer free breakfast in the morning which helped with my budget. Minor gripe - There was no soap or wash cloth in the bathroom. I had to request them but the staff immediately accommodated me. I would use them again.

Hotel is very small and the shower is terrible.

Pros: The receptionists were warm, friendly and professional. The breakfast was fairly good.
Cons: The shower pressure and the air conditioner were too loud.
Location: as mentioned the area was scary with the shelter next door and shady characters.
I felt that we were in a dump and the hotel was not clean. There were flies in the the dining area and one of the employees was cleaning his bike on the dining table. The shower was loud and noisy when the water came through the reduced pressure shower head. The inn was close to a shelter for the homeless and many shady characters were seen around the the area.

Mind the gas fumes and the construction noise

Pros: The staff were super. They really care about hotel guests. They are not just pretending or hoping to get a tip.
Cons: In a year or two, the neighborhood will have transitioned (for better or worse). The air pollution was awful, and that won't change.
Location: Already covered.
The hotel is at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel and the smog is terrible. It's difficult to walk to and from the hotel because you have to navigate the off ramp to the tunnel. (Don't cross without the pedestrian signal.) This area of NYC is undergoing a transformation. A needle exchange is down the street from the hotel. But, we were never bothered by anyone. Owing, perhaps, to a police precinct station a block away. During our stay (late June 2015), construction noise bothered the sleep of my elderly friend and some guests. (It didn't register with me, but I am a native New Yorker.) The breakfast is the typical fare at all Quality Inns. Skip it and go eat at a local establishment. The restaurants were inexpensive and excellent: a real NYC diner, Thai, Japanese, steak house, burger joint, etc... If you want to stay on the west side of NYC, this hotel has access to the ACE and the 1,2,3 and 9 subways within walking distance. A portion of the Highline is a few blocks away, too.

Not what I requested

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
When I made the reservation I requested two beds and I believe I paid more for that. Upon arrival at the hotel they only had king beds and I was told "that is what you get for booking thru a third party". My friend and I had to double up, but we suvived. Room was the size of a postage stamp.

Good value for location

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, walking distance to times square
This hotel was a really good value for the location. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The free breakfast was also decent. The room was clean when we arrived. I would recommend this hotel to stay in Manhattan.
