Travel with kids

The kitchenette made my trip easier with the kids. It was handy having a spot they could get their breakfast, pack a lunch, or make a light dinner at “home”. Clean and comfortable rooms. Grocery store across the street is added bonus!

Great Value

Pros: Room size, location, beds
Cons: Shower water pressure
Location: Loved the location. Close to Central Park, Museum of Natural History, Uptown, Subway Station, etc.
Third time staying in NYC. Was expecting a standard NYC hotel room that is basically an oversized closet. I was very pleased when I opened the door and found a room with plenty of space and a nice size bathroom. Beds were comfortable and I enjoyed the location was close enough to major attractions but far enough away from the madhouse known as times square.

Beautiful hotel in a great location!

Pros: Location, friendliness and convenience.
Stayed for a long weekend to reunite with college friends (I'm a NYC native), which included a concert at the Beacon Theater (right next door). Hotel is very conveniently located in the upper west side of New York, right near the subway. There are a lot of attractions near by within walking distance. There is a market and drug store right across the street- and our room had a kitchenette and refrigerator/microwave. Views of the Hudson river were great (I was on floor 25), looking just past the historic Dakota (no, I didn't see Ono). Staff was great and very professional.friendly. The hotel manager actually sought me out to inquire if everything was perfect about our stay- and it was. I will return to this hotel.

Perfect location

We stayed 3 nights at the Beacon, love the Upper West Side and ease of getting anywhere in Manhattan from the 72nd St. subway. You can walk to many museums and of course Central Park. The room was very comfortable, great beds, kitchenette perfect for coffee and toasting a bagel! On the 18th floor it was soooo quiet! Fairway Market is right across the street. The bar is nice too! Nothing negative to say.

Spacious but old rooms. Service staff very helpful. A good, economic hotel.

Great place to stay

Pros: Clean, comfortable, great location
Cons: Air conditioner made a bang every time it went on....got used to it...
Location: Right next door tho the beacon theater! Restaurants, markets all close by. Central Park is a nice walk. Subway is only a few blocks away.
We took a subway from pen station & walked a couple of blocks to the hotel. We arrived and were greeted and checked in. The room was a nice size with king bed and a kitchenette. The bathroom was small but adequate. We crossed the street to the fairway market for snacks and juice. There was a liquor store a couple doors down. Walking next door to the beacon theater for the show was amazing! Definitely a convenient place to stay. Room was quiet. Bed was comfortable. Felt clean and safe. Will definitely be back when we see another show at the beacon.

Quiet Neighborhood Hotel, but Close to the Action!

Pros: The location, the rooms are comfortable and not tiny, the kitchenettes, the staff, the happy hour at the Beacon Bar.
Cons: We were not informed that the happy hour ended at 6:00 PM. In the past it went until 7:00. Happy Hour wine is $5, after it is $14. Quite a jump.
Location: Location is uptown, Central Park is 3 blocks away. Riverside Park, Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle,Time Warner Building, Subway Station, Zabar's.
I love the Hotel Beacon. This was my third time staying there and it is beginning to feel like home. I love that it is in a neighborhood, but within walking distance to my favorite spots, Central Park, Lincoln Center, Trader Joe's, Columbus Avenue. The subway station is 3 blocks away and you can be downtown at the 9/11 Museum is 30 minutes, at 42nd. St. in 20 minutes. I also love the kitchenettes in the room. My husband loves to make his "special" breakfast every morning, so the kitchen comes in real handy. Starbucks is on the next block and there is a Fairway Grocery Store right across the street. The staff is nice and very helpful. I had a bit of trouble with the concierge this time when I was trying to print out my tickets for the One World Observatory and the printer would not work. He was not helpful at all. However, the lady at the registration desk printed them for me on her printer. I will say that this was the first concierge at the Beacon that did not go out of his way to help me. I plan to be back in New York in December and April and I will be staying at The Beacon!

nice moderate hotel, quiet and close to park

Pros: Large rooms, nice kitchenette with kitchenware, great maid service, and were upgraded to a suite for a small fee, and it was a large 1 bedroom apt
Cons: the bathroom was very small but not too bad
Location: very quiet area, very close to central park and several museums and many restaurants and theaters and less than 2 miles from times square
Would recommend this hotel if you prefer larger room with kitchenette in quieter part of Manhatten. Location close to central park and the American Museum of Natural History....all within 6 blocks...also very close to starbucks, fairway market/grocery store, several shops and delis and restaurants, including a great italian place called Piccollo very close by. Subway station 2 blocks away. Times square less than 2 miles away. Quietness was nice because we were traveling with kids and it was a busy holiday weekend...

They don't like Travelocity!

Pros: It is near our son's apartment. Fairway is across the street. The kitchenette makes for an easy breakfast.
Cons: The sofa in the living room is incredibly hard and the pull out bed is not at all comfortable.
Location: Lots of restaurants and The Museum of Natural History.
We have stayed at the Beacon Hotel many times. After a few times of staying in smaller, louder, no view rooms I learned to request a higher floor, corner room which was amazing. I made the request this time and called the hotel to confirm. When we arrived I was told my request could not be accommodated because I booked with Travelocity. I was told they could not make changes and I should have called the hotel directly to reserve. The suite we stayed in was smaller, the sink had cracks, one of the drawers in the kitchen would not open, all of which are minor. I was mostly disappointed because I was looking forward to a corner room with amazing views.
