Built on top of the Black Rock Mountain with incredible year-round views of Devil's Knob Mountain and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ideal for retreats, romantic weekends or adventurous getaways!

The Space:
Floor plan is made for entertaining with friends and family, (or multiple families) or even well suited for your corporate getaway. With 5 private bedrooms on 3 floors, people can spread out! Entering on the second level is a spacious great room with soaring cathedral ceiling, and a gorgeous native stone gas fireplace. The huge deck overlooking the mountains is the perfect spot for that glass of wine. The kitchen and dining area is open to the great room and feature granite countertops, custom maple cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances. This floor also has a guest suite, with queen size bed and private bath leading to deck. There is also a laundry room and powder room.

The third level has a spacious master suite with king bed, maximum mountain views, soaking tub, and heated towel bar. A second master suite with king bed and full bath and additional sweeping views is across the hall.

The first level is great for children, or children at heart to lounge or challenge each other to game or two. Maybe even give parents time for a nap! A fourth bedroom with king and full bath allows for additional private accommodations and still leaves the fifth room with two bunk bed sets that the kids will love.

Additional home amenities include free WIFI, three TV's (47',42', 32') in main living spaces, plus four flat screen TV's in bedrooms, DVD player, heated tile floors in the bathrooms, ceiling fans, central air conditioning, heated storage for your ski boots, and a quiet cul-de-sac location.

Wonderful Ski Lodge

Black Bear Lodge fit our two families very happily. There were ample bathrooms, the beds were very comfortable and the view is lovely. The house was well-maintained and It's a short drive to the slopes.

Great house great views great owners

We have stay at Wintergreen many times, But this is the first time at this house. The owners were very responsive to questions we had and the house was in great shape and a joy to stay in. The views out the back were beautiful and the house inside very comfortable. Everything we could ask for.

Mountain Vacation 2024

The view is the first thing you notice when you walk into the Black Bear Lodge. Amazing!!! We could have stared at that view every minute of the day! We had 11 in our group and it was plenty spacious. The teens really enjoyed having the downstairs all to themselves. All the bedrooms were comfortable and had their own view of the mountains. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked and we were not in any need. The Host was super responsive with answers to our questions. I have nothing but great things to say and would love to have the opportunity to come back again.

Friends reunion weekend

House was perfect for 6 adults/6 young kids. Clean and stocked with kitchen basics. Easy drive to some trails and Wintergreen resort, but further (20-30 mins) to get down to other restaurants, breweries, etc. Great view from the big back porch!

Wonderful Wintergreen Weekend

We had a great time at Black Bear Lodge. Our group consisted of family and friend-family. We loved the decor of the lodge, from the big bear waving hello as we entered the house to the signs reminding us to "Take a Hike" :-) The house was well equipped for cooking meals and we enjoyed both the fire table and the fireplace. Don't get me started on the views. Beautiful! We'd love to come back again.

Black Bear Lodge was the perfect fit for our family. There is lots of space to spread out with bedrooms located on all three floors. Great proximity to the ski slopes.

Time with Family

The house provided a nice place for some of my extended family to gather and spend time with each other. The house was nice. We filled out all the beds so eating at the dinner table was a bit tight but we managed. The kids had a blast playing basketball on the PS4. The house advertised that it was the most handicap accessible; my mom with Parkinson's was not able to shower as there were no bars to assist her in or out of the tub/showers. The bed on the first floor was high for a handicap person. There was a stool she was able to use. The host is good at communicating before, during and after the stay. The house was cleaned well upon our arrival. We were overall happy with the house and our time together was good. Thank you.

Great places for our trip with 4 couples

Great location and perfect for couples. Lots of king or queen beds and a bathroom for each bedroom. Beautiful outdoor space. We were disappointed we couldn’t use any of wintergreen facilities like tennis or pickleball because we didn’t rent through wintergreen but the accommodations and price were worth it!

Beautiful home in the mountains

This house was very well appointed for a large group. The adults enjoyed the deck and the kids loved the gaming system downstairs. The owners were easy to communicate with and responded to questions in a timely manner. We’d stay here again for sure!

Property is very comfortable for large groups

This property was perfect for us. We were 6 adults 1 child and two infants. The kitchen is fully stocked with essentials which for us was important as we like to eat home. Heated bathroom floors and a towel warmer were nice extras. Also the welcome basket was a nice touch.

Wonderful house for a larger group

We had a wonderful stay between Christmas and New Year’s with an extended family group of two families and one couple. It’s hard to find a house that can comfortably accommodate a larger group and this place was great for our needs. The downstairs level is accessed through a separate door that leads to the staircase and allows for privacy, and is almost like it’s separate apartment. The third-floor bedrooms are airy and have wonderful views and are basically two master suites. Our older parents enjoyed the bedroom on the main level as it did not require the use of stairs. All beds were comfortable. The views from the house in general are lovely over the mountains. Though it was too cold for us to use the deck, in warmer weather the deck would be a great place to hang out. The children did spend some time hanging out around the fire pit on the deck. Though the house sleeps up to 14, the dining table is meant for eight so that is one thing to keep in mind. The owners were very accommodating and quick to answer any questions. Parking was easy and we had three cars. There is no steep incline to access his house, which would make it easy to access even if there was a lot of snow. We would definitely come back again!

Good stay overall

Overall we had a good stay. First day we got there, there was no hot water. We reached out to the host (which was super responsive. great host!) and the maintenance guy walked us through how to turn the heater on. The water ended up going cold again the next day, and the maintenance guy had to come take a look. We didn’t have any issues after that. Besides that, the dining room table looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in ages. The table mats were basically glued to the table due to how sticky it was. We also had to REALLY clean the grille before using due to how overdue it was for a cleaning. Other than that, the house was beautiful and so was the view. The beds were comfy. The gas fireplace on the deck was wonderful. It was spacious and homey. The neighborhood was quiet. I would definitely recommend this place to a family or friend.

Nice place to stay

The view off the back deck was beautiful, the house itself is beginning to show a little age. There were several small things that really could have been taken care of during regular maintenance that would make the house much more appealing. The toilet in the master bathroom wobbles, one bedrooms will not cool down properly. One of the showers would not drain properly and you end up standing up to your calves in water and taking a shower. I cleaned out a large glob of hair from the drain in that shower, so it drains properly now. there were also not enough towels and washcloths provided. If I’m spending over $5000 on a house I don’t expect to have to call and ask for additional towels. The police came by the house one night and said that someone in the neighborhood had seen one of our vehicles speeding in the neighborhood. No evidence, just someone’s opinion …
