The hotel is in an economically depressed part of Eureka, but we still felt safe on the hotel grounds. The hotel has plenty of parking and a beautiful secured courtyard. The courtyard has a lushly landscaped Koi pond with a little walking bridge over it. Hiding amongst the lush plantings there are frogs who sing at night. James at the front desk was very upbeat and helpful when we checked in. The young lady at the front desk ( I am sorry, I don't recall her name) was very accommodating when i asked about when the Koi were fed. She checked with maintenance for me and as we walked back to our room, Bob, offered to feed the Koi then for us. We chose a room with a jet tub and it was spacious and clean. I would absolutely stay here again.

I was given a back room and refused it because it’s very unsafe. Insisted and it took a while to convince clerk that as a single woman, it was not safe for me to be where he had put me.

The property was utilitarian in a less than desirable area. The beds were not comfortable and the toilet did not work probably. The staff for the most part were friendly and supportive. Breakfast was included and my traveling party said they enjoy it. The property was near the zoo which has the Redwood Sky Walk. It is also about a 30 minute drive to the Avenue of the Giants which was breathtaking and a must see. We were there to see the redwoods and that did not disappoint but the lodging in the area will not nearly match this experience.

The hotel is older but relatively clean. Walls are pretty thin. For some reason a group of men decided to congregate on the balcony above us talking up a storm at 2AM. We were also in the room next to the door/hallway leading to the gardden area which was very noisy as well. At check-out had a rather unpleasant experience with staff being quite short with me. Overall, i would not stY here Gain.

Staff was great, very friendly. Our room was as expected. Clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet was above and beyond. The area in which they have set aside for dogs to do their business is not lighted well, and with homeless folks in the area I did not feel safe taking my dog out after dark. There is a lovely walking path within a block of the hotel, but again homeless are camped along it. Such is California!
