"Beautiful Historic Manitou"
This hotel is absolutely beautiful. They have restored an historic building built in 1873. Each room has a fireplace, and many have over-sized jet bath tubs. The decor is detailed with molded ceilings, period wallpaper, prints of famous paintings from the era including French impressionist artists, lovely period-style fixtures in doors, lights and sinks, lace sheers on the windows and beautiful views of the town. They are quiet rooms in comparison with other historic hotels I have visited. The valet service is reasonably priced, and most of the quaint, fun, interesting town is within walking distance. Parking in town is all pay-to-park, so this service is well worth the price for car safety and convenience. In addition to these amenities is the exquisite dining experience in the hotel dining room. Beautifully arranged, it is set with fine utensils, oil lamps and white cloth table cloths. The chef is magnifique! Honestly, the dinner was one of the best I have ever experienced. My partner had the scallops, which were perfectly seared -- tender and seasoned lightly to bring out their flavor. I enjoyed medium-rare beef tenderloin that almost could have been cut with a fork. The outer layer was flame broiled and utterly mouth watering. The mashed potatoes were swirled into a ridged design and flamed crisp on top, with a lovely smooth texture inside. Each plate was designed with beautiful artistry. And the flourless chocolate cake was decadent indeed. Go! Enjoy!

"It was definitely a great get away."
The parking was very convenient on the 4th level. Nice to have the casino right downstairs. JP McGills is very comfortably situated. It was easy to get to the other hotels. It was also easy to wander around town and explore. We aren't used to hotel rooms without windows, but it proved not to be a big deal. We had a grand time. The coupon they gave us for breakfast just made the deal sweeter and the breakfast was excellent!! B & L

Garden of the Gods Club and Resort

"Location, location, location! "
The view at the hotel is simply beyond. Every room has a perfectly framed view of the Garden of the Gods. Hotel was clean and well cared for. Remember: it's also a private club. A little offputting demeanor, a bit snooty and not what I would consider a 'resort'. The rooms were well appointed, as were the grounds. Didn't eat in any of the restaurants, due to the aforementioned snootiness. We were in town to relax and refresh, and the view was what brought us here.

"Great family lodge like experience"
GREAT family place with lots of wood timber ambience. Lodge has tons of stuff for kids that are included in room rate. Two pools, wonderful game room-air hockey, darts, pool table, chess, checkers, pinball, ping pong, WII, flat screen, books, board games, multiple video games...etc. ALL FREE. They also offer free kayak and water bikes and sailing (if you can rig sailboat!), sand toys, canoes ALL FREE that you can use in man made lake that has mountain back drop. Pool area has sport court for vball, soccer, tennis, bball, etc. There is kid camp that you can drop off for reasonable fee if you need adult time for onsite golf and spa. Considering the room rate 212-282 (august) we thought value was incredible. It has a very nice upscale feel but family/budget friendly. One morning they had birds on display with naturist giving info, movies at night, smores by the fireplace on the beach. One thing I did think weird is that there is no concierge promoting all this great stuff. The location works great for Pikes Peak area activities near Manitou and Royal Gorge activities (rafting, train ride, gorge bridge). Restaurant a bit over priced and food not that great for the $$. Tons of great restaurants nearby.
