Castle Rock is a city in Colorado located about 29 miles south of Denver. It was named for a large, fortress-like rock formation at the town's center. Although settlers were initially attracted to the region by rumors of gold, it was actually rhyolite that was discovered and that catalyzed the settlement of the town. Reserve a room in one of the hotels in Castle Rock to explore the geological wonder of this region for yourself.
